The former couple reportedly ended their romantic relationship about a month earlier. Blanchard and Urker continued communicating after their breakup because they were co-parenting.

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard met Ken Urker in 2017 while serving time for conspiring to kill her mother. They got engaged, broke up in 2019, and reconnected years later, welcoming Aurora in December 2024. Urker was found dead at his Louisiana home on October 1, his 34th birthday.

The pair’s final texts were mostly about their daughter. A source close to them said their exchanges were “just normal, basically all about Aurora.” The source described Blanchard’s tone as being more like a friend and co-parent.

Their conversations reportedly focused on Blanchard checking on Urker and asking how his day was going. They were no longer discussing everyday romantic details like what they watched or ate.

The source said Blanchard knew Urker was not interested in that kind of conversation at the time. Blanchard reportedly knew Urker was struggling with his mental health and gave him space, although reportedly wanted to get back with him.

“Once Gypsy accepted that their relationship was over is when she stopped the whole kind of relationship vibe,” the source said to Page Six. They reportedly used FaceTime while Blanchard had their daughter with her.

The Former Couple’s Relationship Ended Peacefully

Blanchard and Urker were living separately when they officially ended their relationship. The breakup happened about a month before Urker died. The source described the decision as “amicable” and said there was nothing “nasty” between them.

Urker and Blanchard first met in 2017 while she was serving time for her mother’s murder. They got engaged a year later but broke up in 2019 before Blanchard married Ryan Scott Anderson in 2022. Blanchard and Anderson later ended their marriage, and she reconnected with Urker after.

Police said they found no evidence of foul play when Urker was found dead on his 34th birthday, last Thursday. It was reported that a spoon, a brown substance, syringes, and a handgun were found near his bed.

Blanchard later said in a social media post that she believed his death was a suspected overdose. “I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns,” she wrote. 

She also said that Urker faced a lot of cyber harassment. “The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure.” She told her fans to sign an online petition for harassment.

The Deceased’s Family Questioned Gypsy-Rose Blanchard’s Actions

Blanchard gave an interview not long after Urker was pronounced dead, and Urker’s sister Autumn wasn’t happy about it. “We are disgusted with her statements. She hasn’t even called my mother or any of us yet,” Autumn reportedly said.

She added that everything that happened to her brother started “because of her.” An official cause of death had not been determined at the time of the report. An autopsy has been completed, but toxicology results are still pending. Autumn accused Blanchard of seeking attention and said she loved being in the limelight.

“She had to be that girl,” she said. She also claimed Blanchard had told people they were engaged and planning another child, which she said was untrue.

Urker’s sister claimed Urker had been “terrified” of Blanchard before his death. She said he wanted to take Aurora to his mother to keep the child safe, as shared by The Blast. Autumn said Urker’s final words to her were, “I love you.”

Blanchard also publicly remembered him as an “amazing father” after his death. She said she wanted Aurora to grow up knowing how much her father loved her.

Blanchard Refuses To Go Head-To-Head With Urker’s Sister

Blanchard told Us Weekly she didn’t want the disagreement with Autumn to overshadow Urker’s memory. She acknowledged real tension had existed between her and Autumn even before his death.

According to The Blast, Blanchard claimed the conflict had been bothering Urker directly in his final days. “During my final phone conversation with Ken on Monday, September 28, he told me that he was deeply distressed by the situation,” she said.

She added that he feared Autumn would “go harder” publicly against him. Blanchard said her relationship with the rest of Urker’s family had otherwise stayed cordial. The two had reportedly agreed she would keep Aurora on weekdays, with Urker getting her every other weekend.

Days after Urker’s death, Blanchard shifted her focus. She has been urging followers to support a petition for “Kenan’s Law,” named for Urker. It aims to change how platforms handle repeated harassment reports.

She said Urker faced “an overwhelming amount of online scrutiny” before he died. She also revealed that they both reported harassing content multiple times with little result. She argued that platforms often look at posts individually instead of recognizing a pattern of targeted behavior.

“This is not about silencing criticism or taking away anyone’s freedom of speech,” Blanchard said. “Public figures can and should be criticized, but public figures are still human beings.” She also revealed that she wanted to turn her grief into an effort that could help others facing similar situations, as reported by The Blast.
