The Los Angeles community has rallied around Chad Lowe’s family as they navigate the devastating loss of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Lowe.

Friends and families connected to Fiona’s school have reportedly offered practical help, but the family has chosen to keep that support within a small, private circle.

Their decision comes as the school community also works to care for students and staff, creating a broader network of support around those grieving the teenager’s death.

The outpouring of support for Chad Lowe’s family has reportedly extended beyond condolences, with several families from Fiona’s school offering meal trains and even GoFundMe accounts.

A source told Page Six, “Several families from Fiona’s school have reached out offering how to help,” adding, “Meal trains as well as GoFundMe accounts were offered because everyone seems to want to help. They are only sharing things with their very small, private circle.”

The outlet reported that the family has kindly declined those offers, choosing instead to keep assistance among people closest to them.

That approach follows the family’s request for privacy as they mourn Fiona, who died a week ago.

While the family has kept its immediate support system private, Fiona’s school has taken steps to help the wider community process the loss.

In an email to parents, the middle school principal acknowledged that the previous week had been difficult and recognized that students, staff and families could be experiencing a range of emotions.

The principal revealed, “Counseling and wellness supports remain available on campus for students and staff who may need someone to talk with or simply a little extra support.”

The message also emphasized maintaining a sense of connection as students returned to their routines, concluding, “As we move forward together, we will continue to take care of one another while keeping our students connected, engaged, and learning.”

The initial announcement of Fiona’s death left the circumstances surrounding the 13-year-old’s passing private, with Chad Lowe and his wife Kim Painter asking for prayers and privacy as they mourned their daughter.

That changed days later when Los Angeles County medical examiner records provided an official determination.

As The Blast reported, the records confirmed that Fiona died by suicide at a local hospital on Tuesday, September 29. She was pronounced dead at 1:14 a.m. that morning.

The confirmation came after Chad and Painter initially announced their daughter’s death without disclosing her cause of death.

In their statement announcing Fiona’s death, they described her as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”

They also said, “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” adding that she “was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents” and “was the light of our lives.”

The family asked for prayers and privacy and included the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for anyone struggling with mental health.

With the medical examiner’s determination now public, Fiona’s older sister Mabel Lowe shared her own words about the loss.

The 17-year-old posted on Instagram on October 3 alongside a collection of childhood photographs showing moments she shared with Fiona over the years.

“I love you so much fiona,” Mabel wrote. She continued, “I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now.” She then added, “I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much.”

The photographs captured the sisters at different stages of their childhood, including moments together at the beach, in a pet bed and around the home.

One image showed Fiona as a toddler, while another captured her in a dance setting.

Chad Lowe’s Daughter Was Remembered By Her Dance Teacher

Mabel’s tribute came as other people who knew Fiona began sharing memories of her, including her longtime dance teacher Kendra Andrews.

On October 2, Andrews took to Instagram with videos of Fiona rehearsing in a dance studio, recalling the teenager’s commitment to dancing even after the Palisades Fire destroyed her family’s home.

“This first video was taken only a month after you lost your home in the fire. You came into the studio like you always did for all the years I’ve known you…excited with a beaming bright smile and a big, warm hug for me,” Andrews wrote.

She described Fiona’s second rehearsal as evidence of how much work the teenager had put into refining her routine, writing, “Your passion and determination were incredibly beautiful to witness.”

Andrews said she watched Fiona perform from the wings rather than filming the performance.

“FiFi, I love you more than words can convey. It was an honor to teach you, laugh with you, and watch you grow,” Andrews wrote, adding, “Our hearts are shattered. We will never be the same without you here. I will miss you and love you forever.”
