Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly torn over which family to be with for the holidays and where to spend the festive season.
The Sussexes, who arrived in the UK over a month ago, are said to have different preferences for Christmas, with Harry favoring his motherland while Meghan misses Montecito, California, and her mother, Doria Ragland.
As tensions with the wider royal family, especially with the Prince and Princess of Wales, continue to heat up, Meghan Markle reportedly expects spending the holiday in the UK with the Windsors to be an awkward affair.
Upcoming Royal Family Christmas Divides Prince Harry And Meghan
MEGAA source told Heatworld that the Christmas season, which is expected to bring families together to make joyful memories, is causing some division between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan, 45, reportedly “misses her friends, she misses her day-to-day routine, and she really misses her mom.” The insider added that the Duchess is in contact with Doria every day but, “it’s not the same as spending every weekend with her.”
So, as the time came to decide where to go for the holidays, for Meghan, the choice was clear: she wants to share the Christmas cheer with her mother in the United States of America.
The source reported that the decision the Sussexes must make as the season approaches is difficult because they aren’t “on the same page” and “with the kids in school, they can’t keep bouncing between California and the UK whenever they feel like it”
Prince Harry Would ‘Hate’ To Leave England For The US During The Holidays
Steven Bergman/AFF-USA.COM / MEGAThe Duke of Sussex allegedly doesn’t want to leave Britain so soon after their arrival because he places importance on spending Christmas in his country of birth with his royal family members.
“Harry hates the idea of leaving England over Christmas,” the insider claimed about the Duke of Sussex.
The prince is supposedly concerned about the impression leaving the kingdom could create, especially during such a significant season for the royal family.
“It’s one of his favorite times of year, and he worries that if they travel back to the US, it will look like they’re giving up and choosing to miss out on time with his father,” the source added.

The Duke Would Love To Spend The Holiday Season With His Relatives From His Mother’s Family
MEGAHarry’s preference for a British Christmas also stems from his desire to spend the season with relatives from his mother, Princess Diana’s family.
According to reports, the duke has connected with a lot of the Spencers since returning to the UK, especially with his mother’s brother Charles Spencer.
Staying in the UK for the holidays also gives Harry a chance to experience a Christmas with the royal family and possibly help with his quest for reconciliation.
The royal family has traditionally gathered at their Sandringham house in Norfolk for the festive season, and Harry, who has reportedly missed six consecutive Christmases since his UK exit, is keen to remain in England this time around.
A Sandringham Christmas Invite May Not Come For The Sussexes
MEGAWhile Harry desires to be with his extended family for the holidays, the Heatworld source claimed that the couple should not necessarily expect to receive an invitation simply because they are now in Britain.
The possibility of being excluded from the traditional royal gathering is said to be very real, and the idea of wasting their holidays waiting for an invite that may never come is something Meghan doesn’t want to experience.
The source explained that for the Duchess of Sussex, making “uncomfortable small talk” and mingling with William and Kate at the event while their relationship continues to be strained is a “grim prospect.”
“That would mean having to endure days on end faking it with the Waleses, and that’s a pretty grim prospect; there’s no doubt it would ruin Christmas for Meghan,” the source said.
Prince William May Skip The Royal Family Christmas Event If Harry Is Invited
MEGAWhile Harry reportedly waits for an invite to the royal family’s Christmas celebrations, a previous report by Closer Magazine indicated that the Prince of Wales may skip the occasion entirely if Harry and Meghan are invited.
A source told the outlet that the Sussexes are likely to be invited even though they aren’t working royals, but William is against the idea of spending Christmas with his brother.
“William can’t accept that; he feels like they lost that privilege with all their despicable behavior,” the insider said. “He’s saying he will opt out of attending anything they are invited to, rather than have to put on some phony act.”
The insider claimed Charles wants the Sussexes included but “that’s going to make things mighty uncomfortable for William,” who would rather spend Christmas alone than spend it with his brother and sister-in-law.
