In the Gundam universe, some mobile suits do not just hit hard; they move so fast that their enemies barely get a chance to react. There is an interesting group of machines in the long-running Gundam franchise that stand out because of their incredible speed.
These mobile suits can cross huge distances, dodge attacks, close gaps in seconds, and turn their speed into a deadly weapon. With that said, these are some of the fastest mobile suits in the franchise, ranked from No. 10 to No. 1.
10 Gundam Kestrel Pushes Its High Mobility to the Limit

It appears in Advance of Zeta: The Traitor to Destiny and was built with high mobility in mind. Its triple-generator setup gives its thrusters a huge amount of power, allowing the Kestrel to make sharp and very fast movements.
The biggest problem is that this speed is not easy for a pilot to handle. The machine can put its pilot under extreme G-forces, making it dangerous even for the person sitting inside it. Van Asiliano’s skill lets him push the Kestrel much further than most pilots could. It takes the No. 10 spot because its impressive speed comes with a serious drawback.
9 Xi Gundam Can Fly at Supersonic Speeds

In Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, the machine uses Minovsky Flight technology to fly through the atmosphere instead of simply falling like a normal mobile suit. It can reportedly reach speeds of around Mach 2.
That is already impressive, but Xi can also fight while moving at these speeds. During the battle with the Penelope in Hathaway, Hathaway uses Xi’s flight ability to move around the battlefield while attacking and avoiding enemy fire. Xi ranks above Kestrel because its speed is much more useful in a real battle.
8 Strike Freedom Gundam Type II Fights at Top Speed

Introduced in SEED Freedom, this upgraded version keeps the incredible mobility of the original Strike Freedom while receiving several major improvements.
Its wing binders incorporate the Voiture Lumiere propulsion system, boosting acceleration and agility to keep pace with the Black Knight Squad.
7 Destiny Gundam Spec II Gives Shinn Blinding Speed

Used by Shinn Asuka in SEED Freedom, the upgraded version keeps the Wings of Light and powerful propulsion system of the original.
What makes Destiny so dangerous is the way Shinn uses that speed. He does not simply fly quickly from one place to another. He uses sudden movements, afterimages, and rapid attacks to confuse his opponents. This is one reason the Destiny Gundam Spec II feels so dangerous and ranks at 7th on this list.
6 Gundam Epyon Is Made for Fast Close-Range Attacks

Epyon transforms into a streamlined dragon-like Mobile Armor cruiser for rapid transit, while the onboard Epyon System feeds predictive combat data directly to the pilot’s brain, turning close-range closing speed into an art form.
5 Gundam F91 Can Create Afterimages at High Speed

But its biggest trick is the Metal Peel-off Effect, better known as MEPE. When F91 pushes its performance to the limit, parts of its outer armor peel away as it releases heat. This can create several afterimages of the machine, making it difficult for an enemy to tell where the real machine is. It ranks above Epyon because its speed can directly confuse enemy pilots and sensors.
4 00 Raiser Gets a Massive Boost From Trans-Am

When Setsuna uses Trans-Am in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Season 2, the machine receives a massive temporary boost. The 00 Raiser reaches another level when Setsuna activates Trans-Am Burst during the final battle. The mobile suit can also use quantum effects that allow it to disappear and reappear over short distances. It ranks fourth because its speed is incredible, but its most unusual movement abilities depend heavily on its special systems.
3 Gundam Harute Turns Speed Into a Deadly Weapon

Engaging Marute Mode allows Allelujah, Hallelujah, and Soma Peries to process sensory data simultaneously, unleashing blinding Trans-Am thrust while deploying dozens of high-velocity GN Scissor Bits against the ELS swarm.
2 00 Qan[T] Can Cross Huge Distances in an Instant

Appearing in A Wakening of the Trailblazer, this is the final mobile suit piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei and one of the strongest mobile suits in the entire Gundam 00 timeline.
Its Quantum System allows it to perform something far more impressive than simply moving quickly. During the final part of the movie, Setsuna uses the 00 Qan[T]’s quantum teleportation ability to cross an enormous distance and reach the ELS homeworld. That is why it ranks above Harute. Harute is incredibly fast in battle, but 00 Qan[T] can effectively skip the journey altogether.
1 V2 Gundam Is Built for Incredible Speed
The V2 Gundam takes the top spot because speed is at the heart of its design. Appearing in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, the V2 is equipped with the Minovsky Drive, one of the most advanced propulsion systems seen in the Universal Century.
The system gives V2 incredible acceleration, while its famous Wings of Light can also be used as a weapon. What gives V2 the edge over 00 Qan[T] is that its speed comes from its core propulsion system rather than mainly relying on teleportation.
Now the big question: With so many mobile suits capable of moving at incredible speeds, which one do you think deserves the No. 1 spot? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
