What to Expect From Genshin Impact Version 7.0
Snezhnaya is finally here. | Image Credit: HoYoverseThe main feature of 7.0 is undoubtedly Snezhnaya, the final major Archon nation of Teyvat. The homeland of the Fatui and the domain of the Cryo Archon, the Tsaritsa, has been referenced throughout the game for years.
The new region will feature several important locations, including Morespok, Snezhnograd, and Glupov. Players will also be able to explore areas connected to major characters and Fatui lore, while a new railway system will provide another way to travel across the frozen landscape.
Exploration will also introduce new systems. The Eye of Graeae will help Travelers withstand Snezhnaya’s harsh environment while also interacting with the region’s new transportation and energy mechanics. Players can collect Prime Ice and use it to construct objects that assist with exploration, including platforms, climbable structures, and sources of warmth.
The 7.0 update will also add the Shadow Realm, where we’ll be able to switch to a third-person shooter-style combat system. We’ll be able to unlock the Night Hunt in Snow outfit for the Traveler in this gameplay mode.
New Characters and Banners
The first phase of Version 7.0 will introduce Odette, a new five-star Cryo character, alongside the return of Arlecchino. The new four-star Electro character Alyosha will also appear during this phase.
The first-phase Event Wishes are scheduled to run from August 12 to September 1, 2026.
The second phase will then bring Flins and Ineffa, with their banners scheduled to run from September 1 to September 22.
Version 7.0 will additionally introduce the Cryo Traveler. Travelers can unlock the new elemental alignment by interacting with a Statue of the Seven in Snezhnaya.
New Archon Quests
The story will continue with two major Archon Quest acts:
- Chapter 7, Act 1 – Everwinter Without Mercy
- Chapter 7, Act 2 – Wraith’s Nocturne
These quests will push the Snezhnaya storyline forward and bring Travelers closer to the long-running conflict surrounding the Tsaritsa, the Fatui, and the Gnoses.
New Reactions, Weapons, and Artifacts
With the 7.0 update, we’ll also get new additions to the Stellar reaction system. Stellar-Conduct and Stellar-Swirl will play an important role in the new characters and team compositions, giving players additional ways to build around Cryo and other elements.
A new five-star sword, Whitelake Frostfeather, will arrive alongside Odette. The update will also add the Traveler’s Exaiphanes Blade, a new collection of craftable four-star Snezhnaya weapons, and another group of weapons that can be obtained through the Battle Pass.
Two new artifact sets, Scarlet Proof and Heart of the Furnace, will also become available for players to farm.
The 7.0 update will also launch with several new in-game events, including Great Expeditionist Challenge, Mutual Aid in Bloom: Into the Frostlands, and Trial of the Bastion. These events will offer rewards such as Primogems, character materials, and other resources. The update will also introduce new enemies, including the Immortal Construct and Chimeric Winged Lion.
Version 7.0 is a big milestone for Genshin Impact. Players have spent years hearing about the Tsaritsa, the Fatui, and their frozen homeland, and the August 12 launch will finally allow Travelers to explore the region themselves.
