Gears of War: E-Day comes out next week, and we’ve waited a long time for the latest entry in this fan-favorite shooter series. Developed by The Coalition, the game is set to launch worldwide on October 6, 2026. The game is already available through its five-day early access period for eligible players.

The official release date for Gears of War: E-Day is October 6, 2026. The game will launch on Xbox and PC via Steam and the Xbox ecosystem, with the global unlock scheduled for 3:00 PM UTC. If you paid extra for the premium editions, you can already play the game, as the five-day early access period began on October 1 at 3:00 PM UTC.

What to Expect From Gears of War: E-Day at Launch
This is looking like one of the top games of 2026. | Image Credit: The CoalitionGears of War: E-Day is a prequel set 14 years before the original game, and it tells the story of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as they experience the first emergence of the Locust Horde. The campaign can be played solo or cooperatively with up to four players.
There’s more to do than just the campaign in the form of Horde Siege, a PvE mode with large maps, bigger battles, and four-player squads. Players can choose from Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Breacher classes while completing objectives and fighting Locust forces. The game also has Versus multiplayer with 4v4 modes, new maps, and updated movement and controls.
At launch, E-Day will also begin its first post-launch season, Season 1: Emergence, which will run for eight weeks. It includes launch maps and modes alongside limited-time events, cosmetics, and other multiplayer content. Ranked Versus is scheduled to arrive on October 13, one week after the game’s full release.
