On the day Frieren Season 2’s final episode aired, the anime’s official X account confirmed that Season 3 is already in production. They also shared that Frieren Season 3 will premiere in October 2027 (via the anime’s official site). Thus, now we have an exact release window.

Although an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, we can expect the episodes to air on a Friday in the first or second week of October 2027. Why Friday? Because in both Seasons 1 and 2, every Frieren episode aired weekly on Fridays. So, if the studio wishes to continue this “Frieren Friday” trend, then fans would be delighted.

How Many Episodes Will Frieren Season 3 Have?

There’s a pattern you can notice in every Frieren season. Usually, each episode covers around two chapters from the manga. Season 1 had 28 episodes that covered 60 chapters, and Season 2 covered 20 chapters in exactly 10 episodes. So, we can do some guesswork from this data.

Following the aforementioned pattern, Frieren Season 3 is expected to cover the entire Golden Land (popularly known as the El Dorado arc), which spans across 28 manga chapters. Now, since the final 2 episodes of Season 2 have already adapted the first 4 chapters of the Golden Land arc, 24 chapters remain to be adapted.

So, to adapt all that in a single season, it will require at least 12 episodes, which is typical for most seasonal anime. Still, to stay on the safe side, you can expect 12 to 14 episodes in Frieren Season 3.

What to Expect From the Golden Land Arc in Frieren?

What we are about to witness in the upcoming El Dorado arc is simply going to go down in the history of fictional storytelling. While Frieren has already been praised for its introspective narrative, the Golden Land arc is still considered far better than many of its other arcs.

But what exactly is there to expect? Well, the series will bring back many previously introduced characters in a grand narrative that spans four volumes of the manga (from chapter 77 of volume 8 to chapter 104 of volume 11). The main focus, however, will be on Denken.

His backstory in Season 3 will be phenomenal. And last but not least, we will get to witness Macht’s backstory as well. As the last remaining member of the Seven Sages of Destruction, Macht is insanely strong but also has ambiguous morals. Also, beware of one of his sidekicks, a rather eccentric demon who loves to study humans! These two will give Frieren, Fern, Stark, and the others their toughest time yet.

Is There a Trailer for Frieren Season 3?

Unfortunately, there is no trailer for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3 yet. The announcement was only made through a teaser visual. The visual, however, looks quite insane on its own:

The figure shown in the image is Macht of the Golden Land. He is the strongest and sole remaining member of the Seven Sages of Destruction, as mentioned before. The way he stares at the camera in this visual certainly gives chills. Wouldn’t you agree?

As of March 29, 2026, the Frieren manga has not finished publishing yet, and has 147 chapters so far. However, the series is now on an indefinite hiatus. The news suggests it is due to the poor health of the creator. Even before this, the manga went on a hiatus from January 7th, 2025, to July 22nd, 2025.

So, as things stand now, Season 3 has ample content to adapt. In fact, there will still be enough chapters left to create another short season. But after that, the anime may come to a standstill for a while again, unless the manga resumes publishing.
