Two men, including one from Ottawa, are facing fraud charges after an investigation by the Hawkesbury OPP detachment.

Two individuals went to an address in East Hawkesbury township on Saturday, June 13, to buy a vehicle and a crane, the OPP stated in a news release on June 17. The victim suspected the money used in the purchase was counterfeit and contacted the Hawkesbury OPP.

After looking into the matter, police charged François Roger Fafa Ndam, 49, of Ottawa, and Christian-John Dhjarngbo, 46, of Montreal, with: personation with intent (identity fraud); possession of an identity document; uttering counterfeit money; possessing counterfeit money; possessing counterfeit instruments; making counterfeit money; fraud over $5,000; and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused were held for a bail hearing in Ottawa on June 14.

Police asked anyone who thinks they may have been involved in a similar incident to contact them.
