If you’re trying to make steady progress through the Discover Japan section of your Collection Journal in Forza Horizon 6, tracking down every Friend should be near the top of your priority list. Some will join your journey naturally during the opening hours, while others require a little more effort and curiosity on your part.
The good news is that none of them are particularly difficult to unlock. It’s just that the game doesn’t go out of its way to explain where every Friend comes from, which can leave a few gaps in your stamp collection if you’re not paying attention.
Keep reading for a complete breakdown of every Friend in FH6 and how to add them to your Collection Journal.

Meeting Friends is one of the easiest ways to earn Discover Japan Points early on. Several characters become available automatically as you work toward your first (Yellow) Wristband:
- Mei Hasegawa
- Jordan Chambers
- Yuji Kono
- Keiko Tamaguchi
- Helena Marston
- ANNA
These characters are directly tied to the main campaign and story progression, so there are no special requirements beyond simply playing through the early game.
All Radio Station Friends in FH6
Several Friends are attached to radio stations. To unlock them, simply tune into their respective station while exploring Japan in your favorite car and wait for the host to introduce themselves:
| Bass Arena | Scott Tyler |
| Block Party | Carla Rose |
| Gacha City Radio | Toko Ito |
| Hospital | Chriss Goss and Dynamite MC |
| Opus | Takehiro Sato |
| Pulse | Amy Simpson |
| Sub Pop | Abbie Gobeli and Atticus George-Andrijeski |
| Wave | Isabel Moss |
| XS | Simon Neil |
Drift Club Japan Friends
The Drift Club Japan storyline introduces three Friends:
- Isamu Hamada
- Midori Nakamoto
- Robert Glenn
To unlock them, simply progress through the Drift Club Japan story. The game provides the drift cars for each chapter, so you don’t need to prepare a specific vehicle beforehand.
Moto Auto Zine Friend
The Moto Auto Zine storyline introduces:
- Larry Chen
Larry Chen is unlocked by completing the first chapter of Moto Auto Zine, after which he is added to your Collection Journal. It’s a fitting cameo too. Chen is one of the most recognizable automotive photographers in the real world, and Playground Games went as far as scanning him into the game and having him voice the character himself:
Friends and Collection Journal Progress Explained
A total of 8,290 Discover Japan Points are up for grabs. | Credits: Playground Games/FandomWireFriends are, of course, more than just names filling out a journal page in Forza Horizon 6. Every first-time encounter contributes directly toward your Discover Japan completion, making it one of the easiest sources of points early into the game.
Simply meeting every Friend awards 10 Discover Japan Points each. With 19 Friends available, that’s a total of 190 points before touching any of the larger storyline rewards.
The real payoff comes from completing the stories associated with several of these characters:
- Day Trips: Up to 2,700 Discover Japan Points
- Drift Club Japan: Up to 1,800 Discover Japan Points
- Moto Auto Zine: Up to 1,800 Discover Japan Points
- Yuji’s Auto: Up to 1,800 Discover Japan Points
Those numbers do add up quickly, which is why Friends are worth prioritizing even if you’re mainly focused on racing, collecting cars, or making progress toward the higher-level Wristbands.
