Delta police said the blaze was discovered at around 6:10 a.m. on Wednesday in a field in the 6400-block of River Road.

After first responders put out the fire, they discovered a woman’s body.

“Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death and confirm the identity of the deceased,” said Staff Sgt. Mike Whiteley in a statement.

The 6400-block of River Road is a sparsely populated area, with industrial buildings on the north side and farmland on the south.

Police are now asking anyone who drove that block of River Road in the early morning hours to contact officers and share anything they may have seen. Police are interested in reviewing any dashcam footage that may have been filmed in the area.
