Eastbound lanes between Hwys. 427 and 409 shut down after 2 vehicles collided early Saturday morning

A fiery crash in Etobicoke has closed the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 between Hwys. 427 and 409 and left at least two people injured.
The OPP’s GTA traffic unit notified the public about the crash just before 7 a.m. after receiving reports of a “multi-vehicle collision and vehicle fire” on the eastbound stretch of the highway at Kipling Ave.

UPDATE (8:30 a.m.): Highway 401 eastbound at Kipling Avenue remains closed due to a two vehicle collision. The Highway 401 eastbound on-ramp from Dixon is also closed. Injuries are being assessed. Motorists should continue using alternate routes. ^pia

A third person was also reportedly hurt with CP24 reporting via paramedics that one person was in “serious, possibly life-threatening” condition, while the other two were believed to have minor injuries.
The eastbound on-ramp to the highway from Dixon Rd. is also closed. Police advised drivers to plan an alternate route through the area.

Toronto man cuffed for robbery, assault
A 44-year-old Toronto man is accused of breaching his probation during a robbery earlier this month that left the victim with serious injuries.
Toronto Police said they responded to a robbery call on June 12 at about 5 p.m. in the Dundas St. E.-Broadview Ave. east of the downtown area, where the victim was unloading their vehicle.
Police said a male suspect approached the victim unprovoked and assaulted them before also stealing the victim’s property. He then fled from the scene.
The victim was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Jefferson Henry was arrested on Saturday and charged with robbery, aggravated assault and two counts of breach of probation.
