Fact Check: Is CyberLeek Really Threatening to Release the GTA 6 Build if They’re Caught?

The latest GTA 6 saga has spawned a new claim that sounds straight out of a Mission: Impossible movie. A screenshot supposedly posted by CyberLeek warns Rockstar that the group has a complete playable build of the game, with copies scattered across the world and an automatic release allegedly waiting if anything happens to them.

It certainly looks the part. The screenshot uses the same visual style as CyberLeek’s website and is written with enough detail to make the threat sound plausible. There is just one catch: the message is not actually on the website.

We have verified from the site first-hand and can confirm that the so-called “Notice to Rockstar” does not appear there. In other words, the screenshot making the rounds on social media is fake, and there is no genuine post from the supposed hacker group currently threatening to leak their GTA 6 build if the group is taken down.

The Viral CyberLeek “Threat” Is 100% Fake

The screenshot circulating online is a particularly convincing piece of bait because it copies the look and feel of CyberLeek’s website almost perfectly. It also fits into the narrative surrounding the recent leaks quite well, which makes it easy to see why many assumed the message was genuine.

But a quick check of CyberLeek’s actual website tells a different story. The supposed “Notice to Rockstar” does not appear there, and there is no genuine post from the group threatening to release a full GTA 6 build if something happens to them. For obvious reasons, we shall not be linking the website itself here.

This is also not the first time the wait for GTA 6 has produced fake leaks and made-up claims from accounts looking to cash in on the hype. With CyberLeek currently dominating the conversation as the biggest leak story in gaming right now, mimicking its branding is an easy way for engagement baiters on X to make a fabricated post appear far more important than it is.

So, to our readers: let’s take screenshots like this with a healthy dose of skepticism and, more importantly, let’s not give them any more credence by sharing them in our own circles as genuine. After all, the real gameplay leaks are enough to keep the community busy without adding fake ones to the mix.

How Far Have the Real GTA 6 Leaks Gone?

The fake screenshot arrived near the end of an unusually busy week for GTA 6 leaks. CyberLeek began with “Map Sneak Peek 1” and “Map Sneak Peek 2,” followed by the short basketball clip featuring Jason Duval before releasing a much larger map image and a string of gameplay videos.

Those were followed by the “Random Video 1,” “Taser Video,” “Junkies Video,” the community-voted “Plane Video,” and two “Hypercar” clips. The latter showed gas station refueling and repair options alongside store robberies, while also promising strip club footage once the group’s cryptocurrency reached a $3 million market cap. That target was subsequently surpassed, and the “Strip Club” footage followed.

That said, one thing has remained consistent throughout this entire run: every gameplay clip released so far has featured Jason Duval. Nothing from the current leak sequence has shown the person behind the footage playing as Lucia Caminos, so it remains unclear whether the leaker has access to a build that allows both protagonists to be played.
