In a battle of wits, sarcasm, and intelligence, very few from Hollywood come anywhere close to beating Robert Downey Jr. A mastermind with the most iconic responses ready at hand, the perfect Tony Stark portrayer has never once failed to leave the people around him baffled by him, be they his own peers or viewers who just can’t have enough of his work.

As it turns out, this list of admirers includes Rebecca Hall’s name as well. Apparently, the 42-year-old stunner, who has even worked with genius brains like Christopher Nolan, couldn’t hide her amazement while working with Downey Jr. on Iron Man 3. To say the least, after working with him, even Hall couldn’t deny just how synonymous he is with his former MCU superhero.

Rebecca Hall Credits Robert Downey Jr. for Being the Real-Life Tony Stark

Although she had starred in quite a few bangers before it as well, Iron Man 3 was a substantial addition to Rebecca Hall‘s resume as it brought about a considerably different role for her to embody. Then there was Downey Jr., working with whom proved to be nothing short of an incredibly impressive experience for The Town actress.

In an interview with MTV News, Hall shared her adventures of starring alongside the Dolittle actor in the movie, praising him for his outstanding talent and unbeatable charm. She said (via Digital Spy):

I can’t even come close to matching wits with [Downey Jr], but it was fun to try. He’s a really brilliant improvisationalist, he’s incredibly quick-witted.

Continuing, she then emphasized how synonymous Robert Downey Jr. was to his former MCU counterpart, saying:

Everything he brings to Tony Stark is him. Of course, there’s all of the tradition from the comic books, the movie, and also the writing is brilliant, but a heavy dose of that character is Downey Jr. He’s inspiring to work with and watch. He’s a force.

Of course, none of this is new for the brilliant mastermind who quite literally has the room erupting in cheers and applause with his mere entrance. And yet, his impeccable wits and charms weren’t the only things that had Hall gushing on and on in his praise as the actor further proved his chivalry by supporting her during the shoot of their 2013 superhero master flick together.

Robert Downey Jr. Also “Supported” Rebecca Hall During Iron Man 3

In another interview with The Toronto Sun, Hall came clean about how, while signing on to the project to play scientist Maya Hansen, her role was a “substantial” one. “She wasn’t entirely the villain — there have been several phases of this — but I signed on to do something very different to what I ended up doing, explained Hall.

However, midway through the shoot, the creators decided to meddle with her role and, as the actress revealed, they were basically like, ‘What would you think if you just got shot out of nowhere?’ Of course, this was anything but okay with The Gift actress, who claimed she initially had an interesting part to play in the film until the very end.

Thus, she “grappled with them” for the bare minimum: ‘Well, you have to give me a decent death scene and you have to give me one more scene with Iron Man.’ And impressively enough, backing her up through all of this was none other than Downey Jr. in his true Tony Stark manner, who, Hall claims “supported me on.”

To say the least, Downey Jr. has cemented his legacy as the Iron Man a bit too deep – deep enough to have fans unsure of his version of the upcoming Doctor Doom.

Iron Man 3 can currently be streamed on Disney+.
