Every Living Star Trek Actor Over 90 Who Has Truly Lived Long and Prospered

The Star Trek franchise was built on the concept of a hopeful future for humanity. For a franchise whose foundations lie in the future, it is great that some of the actors got to see almost a century ahead. Quite a few actors from the franchise have, as the show’s tagline goes, lived long and prospered.

The show began in 1966 with The Original Series, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Many actors from the franchise since then are still around, going past the age of 90. Here are all the actors from Star Trek who have crossed the age of 90 and are still around.

1 William Shatner – Age 95

Star Trek’s OG Captain Kirk, William Shatner, turned 95 this year, but he barely behaves that way. The actor is still full of life and regularly makes appearances in public, including at Star Trek conventions. He has led a fulfilling life, building heavily on his stardom as Captain Kirk. He has produced and directed several documentaries on Star Trek, as well.

Shatner has been the face of not just the Star Trek franchise, but has also featured in several other shows since then. He led the procedural show TJ Hooker and was a series regular on The Practice and its spin-off show, Boston Legal. Shatner also traveled to space aboard the Blue Origin NS-18, fulfilling his Captain Kirk destiny.

2 Joan Collins – Age 93

Britain’s Joan Collins arrived in Hollywood in the 50s and became a star, featuring with the biggest names of the era. While her film career was great and legendary, she became one of the greatest soap opera actors ever with her role as Alex Colby in Dynasty. The show earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a TV Series – Drama.

Collins’ stint in Star Trek was in one of The Original Series’ best episodes, ‘The City on the Edge of Forever’. She starred along with the other nonagenarian on this list, William Shatner, as Captain Kirk. In the episode, Kirk travels to 1940s New York and falls in love with a peace activist named Edith Keeler, played by Collins. 

It is one of the most heartbreaking episodes in the franchise, and its complete arc and scale make it seem like a movie. Collins has become an intrinsic part of the Star Trek universe, even though she had such a short appearance. She is now 93 years old.

3 David Frankham – Age 100

• 02/16/1926

British star David Frankham is the oldest Star Trek actor living right now. The noted actor is a war veteran and later featured in films like Master of the World, Tales of Terror, and The Great Santini. He was also in multiple TV shows, having one-off roles in shows like The F.B.I., Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and more.

Frankham played Larry Marvick in the TOS episode, ‘Is There in Truth No Beauty?’. The actor has lived a full life, serving in pre-Independent India and fighting in World War II before becoming an actor in Hollywood. While his role in Star Trek may be a one-off, he will forever be immortal. He turned 100 this February, making him the oldest Star Trek living actor.

4 Laurence Luckinbill – Age 91

• 11/21/1934

Laurence Luckinbill somehow managed to separate the screen from the stage and prioritized the latter. The actor has been a Tony Award nominee and has featured in several Broadway shows. He is best known for his one-man shows, where he played historical figures like Theodore Roosevelt and Ernest Hemingway.

Luckinbill played Sybok in the Star Trek feature film, The Final Frontier. Sybok is the half-brother of Spock and is a full Vulcan, unlike Spock, who is also half-human. The actor will turn 92 this November.
