If you’re looking to experience everything that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has to offer, you will need to know how to unlock all Alternate Stories in the game’s Episodic Battles. These are part of the Episodic Battles series, which takes the players through some of the most iconic moments in the franchise.
The Alternate Stories are some original scenarios based on what would happen if certain events and incidents happened differently in the anime. While not canon, they are interesting scenarios that will give you even more content to work through to complete the game.
What Are Episodic Battles and Alternate Stories?
The smaller blue dotted line indicates an Alternate Story can be accessed in this chapter.Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s Episodic Battles can be considered the campaign or story mode of the title. It allows the player to relive the events that take place in the anime in an interactive format, taking part in the many fights that shaped Dragon Ball’s history.
The mode will allow players to fight in several locations and arenas that fans of the series will recognize, such as the World Tournament stage or the Cell Games arena.
These battles will follow a certain pathway, but there will be Sparking Episodes that pop up during your journey. These are the moments you can change the narrative as was shown in the original Dragon Ball anime series. Just like the Episodic Battles, Alternate Stories are character-specific instances, and each can only be experienced when going through that character’s story mode.
These stories are divided into various Chapters, with each Chapter representing a key moment for that character in the series. So, for Goku, it might be the fight against Frieza where he first went Super Saiyan, or for Gohan, his fight against the Androids. Alternate Stories will deviate from what we know happens in the story, a way to breathe new life into the franchise and one of the many strengths of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.
Fans familiar with the storylines of the anime will be able to tell when an alternate story path has begun. For those who are unaware of all the stories in the game, you can also tell if a Chapter has an alternate story when there are two branching lines from the Chapter Selection. Goku has the biggest story arc out of all the characters in the game, so you will notice the most Alternate Stories when going through his Episodic Battles.
How to Unlock All Alternate Stories in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?
Alternate Stories will introduce you to some entirely new characters.There are two ways to get Alternate Stories in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero: choosing a mission option different from what happened in the anime and completing the Alternating Objective during a battle. Adding so much new content has set a new bar for Eastern developers, and gamers are excited to see how it affects the industry.
The first will depend on the choices you make when starting the mission, and the second can be checked once the battle has begun. Mission objectives will help you earn rewards on completing the battle, but you need to be looking out for the Alternate Objectives.
These will vary depending on the battle, but the initial ones will be pretty easy. For example, one of the first battles is Goku vs. Raditz, and the way to acquire the Alternate Story is to fight Raditz without Piccolo’s help and bring his health down quickly to achieve the Alternate Objective. This will result in the Alternate Story for this Chapter being unlocked.
