don’t move teaser, doctor strange 2

SUMMARY

  • Netflix's latest horror thriller, Don't Move, seems to have quite an interesting premise.
  • With Sam Raimi as one of its producers, fans expect it to send everyone into a frenzy.
  • The movie is all set to start streaming on Netflix from 25th October, 2024.

Sam Raimi has given fans many memories to cherish. Be it Spider-Man bidding farewell to Harry Osborn. Or the magical world James Franco’s Oz tumbled into. The director has truly enthralled the audience for generations. But what has made Raimi the icon that he was, is his mastery of the macabre.

Back in the late 20th century, Raimi came out with a plethora of horror movies that cemented his reputation in the industry. The Evil Dead trilogy was one such franchise which cemented his legacy. And after a long hiatus from making horror movies, it looks like he is back with a banger.

With Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness failing to make its mark, fans of the 64-year-old filmmaker must have been left wondering whether his best days are behind him. After all, it had been almost a decade since Wizard of Oz had been released.

Yet, Sam Raimi has shown signs of proving that their apprehensions were ill-founded, as the latest movie produced by him seems set to take everybody back to the 80s & 90s all over again.

Everyone knows it. No one better than the Darkman director himself. The movie, starring Kelsey Asbille, Finn Wittrock, Daniel Francis, and Dylan Beam looks all set to impress, with the trailer actually managing to get fans hooked.

It sounds like a good plot with probably gonna have a bad ending

Sam Raimi must be hoping that it would allow him to recover from the Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness debacle.

What many expected to be a movie that would set the ball rolling, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a movie that failed to make much of an impact. Though the movie had its fair share of horror elements (even earning the moniker of MCU’s spookiest film).

The film couldn’t unravel the web of complexity it had spun for itself. Navigating the expanse of the multiverse, the secrets of the Darkhold was too big an ask for the Benedict Cumberbatch starrer in the end.

Though Sam Raimi himself left no stone unturned to take the flick a step forward, it wasn’t meant to be in the end. Apart from introducing America Chavez (And Charlize Theron’s Clea), the movie also teased the existence of the X-Men, the Inhumans, and Fantastic Four. None of that could save the movie from facing the fans’ (and critics’) wrath. The film had an IMDb rating of 6.9.

That was also the start of the era of movies that would be marked by ‘superhero fatigue’, a phenomenon that has vexed Kevin Feige & Co. ever since. All of that is in the past though. For Sam Raimi at least, as he looks set to strike a homerun with Don’t Move.

Don’t Move will be available on Netflix from 25th October, 2024. The trailer of the movie can be seen here:
