Dragon Ball DAIMA Theory Claims a Classic GT Villain is Coming

In the last four decades, Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball has amassed a huge fan following that has evolved to the status of a timeless classic, where our beloved protagonist, Son-Goku, and his friends would save the day from threats surrounding the Earth. Over the years, the title has featured many series, but the most popular of them all would be Dragon Ball Z.

Since the series has been present for so long, 2024 marks the forty-year anniversary of the franchise. To make the anniversary more special, the franchise introduced Dragon Ball DAIMA, which goes back to the grassroots and gives its OG fans a blast from the past.

However, the show is much more than nostalgia because it is going to hit as hard as possible by featuring an epic storyline and an epic villain that will make its viewers sit on the edge of their seats. Interestingly, a theory follows the show that says how DAIMA would feature a villain from Dragon Ball GT.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Might Feature An Old Face From Dragon Ball GT

There’s no denying that Akira Toriyama’s Shonen series is considered to be the founding series of the Shonen genre. For long, it has been the most recognized title among the weebs as well as the casual watchers of the entertainment form.

With the stakes high and Son-Goku and Vegeta, along with the Z-Fighters finding themselves in a peculiar situation, there is one doubt that follows the show. However, it looks like the series is going all in with the idea of making Dragon Ball GT become a part of the main timeline.

Sitting comfortably with a rating of 8.6/10 on IMDb, the show is already full of fan theories. One major theory strongly following DAIMA will be how it might feature Black Smoke Shenron as one of its main antagonists. The 2024 title gave a sneak peek of a wicked-looking eye that gave a sinister glimpse at its target. Despite not receiving an official confirmation, the character looks nearly identical to Black Smoke Shenron.

Toriyama-Sensei’s Dragon Ball first featured Shenron as the Eternal Dragon for Earth’s Dragon Ball, but the show took a unique turn with the 1996 show, Dragon Ball GT. Black Smoke Shenron made his debut before the Shadow Dragon Saga that pulls the curtain on the show.

Hence, the antagonist is the result of abusing the power of the set of 7 mystical orbs which cracks the Dragon Balls and brings forth the sinister figure. Interestingly that’s not all the inspiration taken from GT because the series has featured several ideas from the non-canon show, which the real fans would have noticed already.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Loves To Borrow Ideas From Dragon Ball GT

With 2 episodes in, the fans are still clueless about the main antagonist of the series. Interestingly, fans have noticed how the series has subtly tried to close the gap with Dragon Ball GT, which is considered to be non-canon by the fandom.

Fans would have noticed that in the first episode, when King Gomah and Degesu were having a conversation about the wish from the mystical orbs, they briefly mentioned white and dark wishes.

This concept is taken directly from GT, where the evil orbs were made from dark magic and are far more dangerous and stronger than the mystical orbs that are used by our protagonists and his friends.

Since the series has taken a unique approach by reverting its protagonists to a childlike state, it is heavily believed that this will result in the Super Saiyan 4 transformation finally becoming canon.

Sadly, there’s one catch to it: our heroes, Kakarot and Vegeta, might not receive these epic transformations; instead, it’ll be a form that will be exclusive to Broly. Hence, this adds another strong reason that fans would be hooked on the series.
