In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he was on a call with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain and Israel. The discussion point: the Iran war and “all things related to a Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE,” Trump said.
“An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries,” Trump wrote late Sunday afternoon. “Final aspects and details of the Deal are currently being discussed, and will be announced shortly.”
Trump noted he also had discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the matter, noting the call “went very well.”
In addition to many other elements of the deal, Trump said the “Strait of Hormuz will be opened.”

Framework for nuclear discussion
The Iranian foreign ministry said Saturday that the agreement includes a memorandum of understanding as a first phase, before broader discussion to take place within 30 to 60 days, CNBC reported.
A potential deal on the ceasefire would create a framework for nuclear talks and ease sanctions on Iran and unfreeze the country’s overseas assets, the Financial Times reported.
Since April 8, a fragile ceasefire has been in place. Despite the ceasefire, the U.S. and Iran have fought over control of the contentious waterway, with the U.S. imposing a naval blockade on April 13 that targeted Iranian ports and ships travelling to and from the country.
The Middle East conflict had set off what can be called the worst global energy crisis in decades as oil shipments largely halted along the strait.

Repeated assault threats
Trump has repeatedly threatened to resume a full-scale assault on Iran since fighting was paused in early April.
Early Saturday, Trump told Axios that he was “50-50” on whether a deal would be reached or bombing would resume.
“Either we reach a good deal, or I’ll blow them to a thousand hells,” Trump told the news outlet.
The U.S. president changed his weekend plans, announcing Friday that he would remain at the White House instead of heading to his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey or attending the wedding of his son, Donald Trump Jr., because of “circumstances pertaining to Government.”
Vice-President JD Vance rushed to the White House early Saturday afternoon, MS Now reported. Trump’s announcement of a tentative deal came after a three-and-a-half-hour meeting.
