On Friday, the TDSB announced that Camillo Cipriano is its CEO.

The school board also announced its new Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer, Stacey Zucker. Zucker has served as the Interim Director of Education since late 2025.

“We are pleased to welcome Camillo to this new CEO role and the experience he brings to the Toronto District School Board at an important time for our system,” said TDSB supervisor Rohit Gupta in a media release. “His experience leading organizational improvement, strengthening financial sustainability, and improving student outcomes will help support TDSB’s long-term success.”

Cipriano comes from Niagara Region

Cipriano comes to the school board from the Niagara Catholic District School Board, where he is currently its CEO and Director of Education, positions he will be stepping down from on June 5, 610 CKTB reported. He has been with the NCDSB since 2020 and previously served senior leadership roles in the Halton Catholic District School Board.

According to the TDSB, Cipriano received an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University as well as a Master of Education from Niagara University Graduate School.

His career in public education has spanned close to 30 years.

“I am honoured to join the Toronto District School Board at such an important time for public education. TDSB has a long-standing commitment to student success and achievement, and I am excited to build on that foundation with all the staff, students, families, and communities that make the TDSB so unique,” Cipriano said in a media release.

His first day on the job will be June 8.

Toronto trustees had no say in Cipriano’s hiring since the Ontario government took over control of multiple school boards last year due to what the province says was financial mismanagement and growing deficits.
