Dora Belen Rivera, 11, and her dad, Oscar Roman Miron, were sitting in a vehicle outside the restaurant in Hallandale Beach on June 27 when their car was struck by gunfire.
New details have emerged in the shooting, in which Oscar was shot in the leg while Dora sustained more critical injuries after taking a bullet to the head.
Innocent bystanders
Miron was with his three children while his wife went into the McDonald’s to get food when the shooting happened.
“Without warning, an altercation broke out between other individuals in the parking lot, and gunfire erupted,” read a GoFundMe page launched by Miron’s colleagues.
“Oscar and his family had no involvement whatsoever in the incident.”
The fundraising page noted that “Oscar was struck in the leg, and his 11-year-old daughter was shot in the head,” while their two other children “were physically unharmed but witnessed the terrifying incident.”

Miron was treated and released from a hospital and is “continuing his recovery at home,” per the GoFundMe.
Rivera, however, remains at the hospital in stable condition.
The girl has undergone surgery, but the bullet remains in her head.
“Doctors have advised the family that they are not removing the bullet at this time because doing so could cause even greater harm,” the message on the fundraiser reads. “She continues to receive specialized medical care and faces a long road to recovery.”

Why shots rang out
Ralph N-Kosi Blue, 18, was arriving at work at the McDonald’s when he shot at someone running toward him, police said, according to WTVJ.
Surveillance video obtained by the outlet shows Blue walking in the parking lot but looking behind him before another male gets out of a parked car and starts running toward the McDonald’s employee.
Blue is then seen pulling out a gun and firing shots as the other person hides behind a car.
The other person is seen fleeing before Blue walked into the restaurant.
Blue is facing two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill in the shooting.
He is being held at the Broward County Jail without bond.
