Yan Couto has been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund, with Como 1907 reportedly showing real interest in the Brazilian wing-back.

Ruhr Nachrichten now reports that Dortmund may not need to sign a direct replacement for Couto to provide backup for Julian Ryerson should the Brazilian leave, with Kjell Wätjen seen as a potential solution.

BVB coach Niko Kovač is believed to rate the 20-year-old, who spent the 2025/26 season on loan at VfL Bochum.

Wätjen is a natural central midfielder, but given strong competition in the middle of the park, he could be tried at the right wing-back position during pre-season.

If the experiment doesn't work out, Dortmund could reportedly sell Wätjen for a fee of around €5 million.
