German authorities are investigating alleged corruption linked to Euro 2024, according to Deutsche Welle.

As confirmed by police, nationwide raids were carried out in connection with suspected improper perks tied to the tournament held two years ago.

More than 150 officers from the criminal police conducted searches at the German Football Association headquarters in Frankfurt, as well as at city halls in several host cities.

Investigators are examining whether officials in German host cities received thousands of unauthorized tickets, along with travel and hotel accommodations.

“Football tickets are not part of a salary,” interior minister Herbert Reul told Bild.

“Anyone in public service who takes advantage can expect a visit from us.”

Raids were also carried out in Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Köln, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and München.
