Brad Pitt’s Se7en is certainly a masterpiece. The film has an excellent premise, being inspired by Greek mythology, Pandora’s box, and the seven deadly sins. Rather than going for a grand approach with this concept, the film follows a killer who takes inspiration from these myths and decides to base his murders on them.

The film did excellently well among audiences, making over $300 million on a budget of $30 million, according to The Numbers. It also became one of Pitt’s best thriller films and left an impressive cultural impact, with several projects drawing inspiration from the classic.

Considering the impact that David Fincher’s movie had, many would be surprised to know that it has never been re-released in the three decades that it has been out. That was, until now. It was recently reported by Discussing Film on X that the film will be re-released in IMAX theaters to celebrate its 30th birthday.

Denzel Washington went on to regret a very bad decision about Se7en

The actor was quite to reveal that he was offered the role of Detective Mills before it went to Brad Pitt. However, Washington ended up rejecting the film for a very surprising reason. He confessed that he thought the film had satanic or demonic themes, which is why he steered clear of it.

I thought the script was too demonic, then I saw the movie, and I was like ‘oh, I blew it.’ But, you know, it worked out alright.

Interestingly enough, Washington watched the film when it came out, and his reaction to the final product was quite hilarious. The actor stated that he realised that he had made a mistake by letting go of the part and has gone on to regret it since then.
