Spoiler Alert !!!
Spoilers from Demon Slayer manga ahead
When it comes to Hashiras in Demon Slayer, speed can be just as important as strength. Some Hashira rely on explosive bursts of movement, while others use reflexes and their speed to overwhelm opponents.
Demon Slayer always puts a heavy spotlight on speed, especially during the earlier training arcs. It’s hard to deny that some Hashiras are faster than others, whether it’s because of their physical attributes or their breathing style.
9 Mitsuri Kanroji’s Speed Makes Her Fighting Style Unpredictable
Mitsuri Kanroji is one of the best-designed characters who also flexes impressive agility and flexibility during her fights. Her unique muscle composition gives her impressive strength, and her flexible Nichirin sword lets her attack from unusual angles. It also means that she is incredibly fast, and that is evident from her fight with Zohakuten. Not only did she protect her allies from this enemy, but she also dodged his attacks quite efficiently.
Her Demon Slayer Mark also gives her a great boost in speed and strength. However, she still ranks ninth on this list because she has fewer examples of exceptional movement speed. Her fighting style is more about strength and flexibility than pure speed.
8 Muichiro Tokito’s Speed Leaves Even Demons Struggling to React
Mist Breathing | Credits: UfotableMuichiro Tokito is a naturally gifted Hashira who can move incredibly quickly. We saw Muichiro’s ability to overwhelm his opponents with his speed when he fought Gyokko. That is especially true after he awakens his Demon Slayer Mark during the fight.
Muichiro’s Mist Breathing helps him hide his fast movements, helping him attack from different angles without being detected. Despite all that, Muichiro is ranked eighth in this list because his overall fighting style doesn’t rely on speed. It’s his obscure movements that make Muichiro one of the strongest characters in the series.
7 Obanai Iguro’s Quick Movements Make Him Difficult to Read

His Demon Slayer Mark also boosts his physical abilities, but Obanai’s greatest strength remains his precision and mobility instead of speed. Honestly, his agility and unpredictable movements are more impressive than his raw speed. So while still better than the character below him, Obanai still takes the seventh spot.
6 Giyu Tomioka’s Speed Makes His Water Breathing Deadly

But we finally saw him go up against Akaza, where he not only reacted to attacks from Upper Rank Three but also stayed competitive in close combat. He grew even stronger and faster after awakening the Demon Slayer Mark.
Giyu’s breathing style also complements his fast movements and his personality. That being said, Giyu’s speed, while still impressive, doesn’t feel truly extraordinary when compared to other Hashiras. That is why he takes the sixth spot on the list.
5 Kyojuro Rengoku’s Explosive Speed Makes Him a Fierce Fighter
Rengoku in Demon Slayer [Credits: ufotable]Without a doubt, Rengoku’s Flame Breathing gives his speed and movements an explosive quality. We saw that when he stood toe-to-toe against Akaza. During the fight, the speed at which he switches between defensive and offensive is truly extraordinary.
What’s truly impressive is that Rengoku was able to surprise us with his speed without the Demon Slayer Mark. However, while Rengoku’s attack speed is clearly something to talk about, he’s not particularly a fast-moving character in general. That is why he is ranked fifth on this list.
4 Shinobu Kocho’s Speed Makes Her Attacks Hard to Predict
Shinobu Kocho from Demon Slayer [Credit: ufotable]Honestly, Shinobu is one of those rare Demon Slayer characters who lack the physical strength to decapitate demons. But she makes up for it with incredible speed and precise thrusts to deliver her poison.
Of course, Shinobu didn’t win a direct fight against Doma, the Upper Rank Two. However, she was able to hold on against the demon for a long time. In fact, Doma even struggled to keep track of Shinobu’s unpredictable and fast movements for a bit. Her incredible showcase of speed against Doma is enough to earn her the fourth spot on the list.
3 Gyomei Himejima’s Speed Is Remarkable Despite His Size
Gyomei Himejima from Demon Slayer [Credit: ufotable]Aside from being the strongest Upper Moon, Kokushibo is also one of the fastest characters in the series. Despite that, Gyomei was able to react to and fight Upper Rank One on par, which in itself is a feat to boast about in front of other Hashiras. And Gyomei was able to move so incredibly fast despite his enormous physical build and unconventional weapon, which is truly extraordinary.
We also saw Gyomei demonstrate his speed when he attacked Muzan, and the speed and precision of his attack even caught the Demon Lord off guard. Gyomei’s speed is truly praiseworthy, but there are two other Hashiras who are even faster than him.
2 Sanemi Shinazugawa’s Speed Makes His Attacks Relentless
Sanemi from Demon Slayer. [Credit: Ufotable]Much like Gyomei, Sanemi was able to keep up with Kokushibo’s incredible speed. He surprises Upper Moon One with his exceptionally fast movement and reactions. Sanemi’s aggressive fighting style requires him to move fast without giving his opponent much room to breathe, and he simply excels at it.
Sanemi even gets a boost in his strength and speed with his demon slayer mark. While we don’t see Sanemi fight in several battles in the series, the way he flexes his speed against Kokushibo earns him a good spot on this list. However, there’s one character who is even faster than Sanemi.
1 Tengen Uzui Is the Fastest Hashira in Demon Slayer
Tengen from Demon Slayer. [Credit: ufotable]We’ve seen almost every Hashira run at least once in Demon Slayer, but no one has surprised us with their speed quite like Tengen. Tengen’s speed is a result of his Shinobi training, which gave the Sound Hashira an obvious advantage in movement, agility, and reflexes.
Take Tengen’s fight with Gyutaro, for example; he moved at blitzing speeds even after being poisoned. At one point, both Tengen and Gyutaro moved so fast that it was difficult even for Tanjiro to track them. Apart from running incredibly fast, Tengen can also overwhelm his opponents with rapid movements, which is why he takes the first spot on the list.
