Debutant Brunner scores brace as Germany U21 stay top with big win in Latvia

Paris Brunner scored two first-half goals on his first appearance for Germany U21.

Paris Brunner starred as Germany U21 stay top of Group F with a 4-0 win over Latvia in the 2027 Euros qualifying campaign. The debutant scored two first-half strikes before Nicolo Tresoldi and Arijon Ibrahimović added further goals after the restart.

Earlier on Saturday, Greece beat Georgia 3-0 away from home to stay in touch with Antonio Di Salvo's side. The two teams are tied on 21 points with only two games left to play in the qualifiers.

Brunner started the campaign in fine form for Ligue 1 leaders AS Monaco. In addition to his first callup at this level, it's reported that he's among the players closely followed by Jürgen Klopp for the next international break. 

Similarly, Tresoldi is also rated highly by the new Bundestrainer, although he's yet to decide on representing Germany or Italy at senior level. In addition to Brunner's successful debut, Noah Darvich and Francis Onyeka registered assists in their first appearances for the U21s.

Germany will end the qualifying campaign with games against Malta and Georgia in the next ten days.
