Dave the Diver’s In the Jungle DLC is finally here, and whether you’re a Bancho Sushi veteran or a Blue Hole newcomer, you will make mistakes that can be easily avoided. Your mission is to make your diving adventures lucrative by day and your sushi restaurant profitable by night without major faults. The oxygen tank in Dave the Diver is essentially your health bar, and by ignoring it during exploration, you risk leaving behind your collected fish and items. If you run out of air, you’ll be able to retrieve a single item from your adventure, which isn’t optimal at all. So, always watch your oxygen tanks and look for oxygen supplies scattered across the world for easy refills. It’s worth noting that you lose oxygen if you get hurt.
However, if you find an oxygen supply and you have enough O2 in your tank, don’t refill it just yet. Explore a bit more, remember the supply’s location, and return to refill your tank when it gets dangerously low. It’s always better to have an Oxygen Capsule ready when facing hostile creatures so you can refill your tank immediately.
2 Avoid Diving at Night Frequently
More hostile underwaters! | Credits: MintrocketDiving at night in Dave the Diver means encountering more aggressive fish with doubled HP and other hostile creatures. Sure, it can be more profitable since some rare fish and sea creatures only appear after dark, but if you’re a beginner or severely underpowered, it’s best to spend your days diving and your nights managing the restaurant, just as the developers intended.
Night dive also cuts the restaurant service hours by 1/3, so you make less money overall. But if you’re confident in your weapon upgrades and skills and really want to catch night fish, dive at night in Dave the Diver.
3 Don’t Ignore the Net Gun
Fish caught in pristine condition! | Credits: MintrocketCrafting the Small Net Gun might not be at the top of your list of priorities in Dave the Diver, but unlocking it means catching 7 fish at the same time in pristine three-star condition, which means more portions per catch. So, don’t make the mistake of putting off crafting a Small Net Gun. Additionally, you can also upgrade it to a Medium and a Large Net Gun.
The Large Net Gun can then be upgraded into a Steel Net Gun with the required resources. The Steel Net Gun is undoubtedly the best version, as it can not only catch most fish in the game, but it can also be leveled up to increase the number of fish captured (15 at the same time at level 5). So, the Net Gun is your key to making farming groups of fish faster and more profitable in Dave the Diver.
4 Manage Your Staff Properly
Bancho Sushi’s success depends on you! | Credits: MintrocketNot managing your staff properly in Dave the Diver is a common mistake that you can make. While Dave will manage Bancho’s by himself early on, he will realise that he needs more staff to keep it going. Take the help of Yoshie to hire staff for Bancho Sushi using Flyer Ad, TV Ad, or Internet Ad. However, it’s entirely up to you to recruit the best staff with the optimal special skills to grow your restaurant.
To enhance your customers’ time at Bancho Sushi, ensure that you have a sublime combination of staff and hire the right cooks and servers. It’s important to train your staff to increase their stats, unlock their special skills, and acquire recipes. We recommend having at least one cook and two servers as long as they’re trained well enough to give your customers the premium Bancho Sushi experience.
5 Dispatch Staff to Get Ingredients
More ingredients = more recipes! | Credits: MintrocketIf you’re not dispatching your inactive staff to collect specific ingredients, then you’re not playing Dave the Diver correctly. The “Dispatch” feature basically allows you to dispatch the staff in the waiting room to gather specific ingredients for recipes, including Soy Sauce, Olive Oil, Mayonnaise and more.
Don’t over-rely on purchasing ingredients or diving for them with Dave, and utilize your staff who aren’t working to do the heavy lifting in this case. Both Davina and Masayoshi have the Dispatch Master special skill, which allows them to gather even more ingredients. So, don’t sleep on this future and send your inactive staff to get the ingredients you need every day.
6 Don’t Be Scared to Explore
Focus on O2 while exploring! | Credits: MintrocketWhile running out of oxygen is always a danger, it shouldn’t limit you from exploring as long as you have O2 Capsules to refill your tank occasionally. As a beginner, you won’t be able to dive too deep, so we recommend exploring the areas near the surface as much as possible to discover new fish and creatures roaming around.
Explore all the sides of the Blue Hole map to make the most of your diving adventures and pick up every item you come across, since you can easily swim to the surface if needed. Once you’ve fully explored the areas near the surface, dive deeper to discover more rare and valuable fish. Again, whether you’re near the surface or inside the Blue Hole Depths, don’t be scared to explore as long as you’re keeping an eye on your O2 tank.
7 Don’t Take Unnecessary Risks Underwater
Sometimes, play it safe! | Credits: MintrocketTaking unnecessary risks underwater is one of the biggest mistakes you can make in Dave the Diver. As we mentioned earlier, if your oxygen runs out before you can reach the surface, you’ll lose your collected fish and items except one. So, if you’re swimming around with rare fish and items, do not dive headfirst into danger and instead play it safe.
Losing everything but keeping only one item will do nothing but make you feel abysmal about your run. When you encounter hostile fish and creatures, make sure you’re well-equipped, and if you’re not, avoid the battle. Use Escape Pods for a quick retreat, but they only become common the deeper you dive into the Blue Hole.
