Peel Regional Police said a victim approached them, alleging she was being sex-trafficked by the man and that he exercised control over her life while benefiting financially.

During the investigation cops, identifed another person who was allegedly being victimized by the suspect.

Wooldy Laguerre, 32, has been charged with two counts each of trafficking in persons, receiving benefit resulting from trafficking persons, communicate with anyone for purpose of obtaining sexual services, material benefit from sexual services and exercise control.

He also faces once count each of assault, failing to comply with an undertaking, advertising sexual services, assault with a weapon and uttering death threats.

MAN CHARGED AFTER ARMED CONVENIENCE STORE ROBBERY

Toronto Police have charged a 43-year-old man in connection with an armed retail robbery in the Queen St. W.-Bay St. area.

Cops said that on Saturday before midnight, a male suspect allegedly entered a convenience store, produced a handgun and demanded cash and cigarettes. Police said the suspect took a quantity of both before fleeing the store.

Police arrested a suspect on Sunday and allegedly recovered a replica handgun and some of the stolen items.

Robert Pichler, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery with a firearm, possession of proceeds of crime and failing to comply with a probation order.

ARSON PROBED AT VAUGHAN BUSINESS

York Regional Police are seeking two suspects and appealing for witnesses after an arson at a Vaughan business.

Cops said that on Oct. 1 at about 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a break-and-enter in progress in the Bathurst St.-Steeles Ave W. area.

Authorities said when they arrived, Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service was already on scene to extinguish a blaze inside the business.

It was later learned two suspects threw an accelerant through the window and were seen leaving the area southbound into Toronto.

A silver four-door pickup was seen in the area at the time of the incident.

RESTAURANT STABBINGS LEAD TO ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES

York Regional Police have charged a 40-year-old Newmarket man with two counts of attempted murder and are appealing for witnesses.

Cops said that on Sunday at about 9 p.m., they responded to a stabbing inside a Newmarket restaurant in the Davis-Longford Drs. area before locating a male suspect outside and two victims with stab wounds near the entrance.

The suspect allegedly attacked a 34-year-old man with a knife inside the restaurant and when a 68-year-old man attempted to stop the attack, he was also stabbed multiple times with the fight moving into the parking lot, where people subdued the suspect until police arrived. The suspect also allegedly stole the victim’s cellphone.

Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Fabian Michael Vassell is charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for committing an offence, mischief to property and theft under $5,000.

TEENS CHARGED IN CARJACKING, HOME INVASION PROBE

Two 16-year-old boys from Toronto have been charged in connection with a carjacking/home invasion investigation.

Cops said that on Oct. 5 at about 3:45 a.m., police responded to a vehicle theft call in the Steeles Ave. W.-Jane St. area.

A food service worker was making a delivery when a male suspect allegedly approached while wearing a mask and produced a knife, asking for their keys. The victim gave his keys and cellphone to the suspect, who drove away with his vehicle.

Police then responded to a robbery call on Oct. 8 at 4:38 a.m. in the Finch Ave. W.-Sentinel Rd. area.

A food service worker was also making a delivery and a male suspect allegedly approached while wearing a mask, produced a knife and made a demand for their keys. The victim gave his keys to the suspect, who drove away with his vehicle.

Cops said on Friday at 3:26 a.m., police responded to a break-and-enter in progress in the Lawrence Ave. E.-Warden Ave. area, where three suspects were allegedly travelling in a stolen vehicle while wearing masks and forced entry through a window of a residence. A suspect produced a knife, confronted the victim and made a demand for vehicle keys.

They also allegedly took a purse, entered the awaiting stolen vehicle and fled the area.

A short time later, officers stopped the stolen vehicle in the Jane-Sheppard Ave. W. area, where two suspects were taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

A search warrant was later executed and officers allegedly recovered items of evidentiary value related to the investigation.

A 16-year-old male was charged with five offences, while the other 16-year-old was charged with 14 offences.

No description was available for the outstanding suspect.
