According to Deputy Fire Chief Chris Fox, multiple 911 calls around 9:10 a.m. reported smoke in the area of 700-block Roderick Avenue.

“Crews arrived to find three homes involved in fire, including a duplex, with heavy fire and smoke visible from multiple areas both inside and outside the structures,” said Fox in a statement. “Firefighters acted quickly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes.”

A total of 26 firefighters and one chief officer remain on scene as of 11 a.m., and the fire is under control but not yet fully extinguished.

Two of the three homes have sustained “extensive” fire damage,” said Fox.

“The cause of the fire is currently unknown. A fire investigation team is responding to the scene and will determine the origin and cause once it is safe to do so,” said the deputy fire chief.

Police are on scene and will assist with the directing traffic and supporting displaced residents.
