Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom has invited a lot of speculation about how the major Marvel villain will be fleshed out in the MCU with such little time between now and Avengers: Doomsday. However, there is one way in which Doom could milk some of the emotional baggage from Avengers: Endgame and the Infinity Saga, by coming face to face with Chris Evans’ Captain America.

Ever since Avengers: Endgame ended, there has been a demand among fans to see Steve return the stones and Mjolnir to their respective places in the timeline. After that, Steve would settle with Peggy Carter, which means that the character might have lived through some very horrific times in history without having to interfere, which might be a little too out of character for Steve Rogers.

Chris Evan‘s Steve Rogers might find it difficult to not interfere in all the tragedies that happen around the world. Once he is hitched to Peggy Carter, the duo could embark on a quest to perhaps fix the timeline, despite Steve’s morality about not punishing the person before the crime. However, as Bruce Banner explained in Avengers: Endgame, the time that Steve ends up going to might not necessarily be his past, but his new future.

Given that this is the situation, his actions might go unnoticed by the TVA for one reason: Doctor Doom might be fighting Captain America to prevent incursions and aberrations in the timeline. While audiences are yet to see what Doctor Doom will be up to in the MCU, conquering a universe one at a time seems to be the way to go for the character, for which, he might require the Infinity Stones of each universe, which could put him in conflict with not just Cap, but also Thanos.

Kang had slain previous iterations of Avengers before, could Doom have similarly slaughtered multiversal aliances?

One of the major story beats that sold audiences on Kang’s menace was the fact that the character was confirmed to have slain multiple teams of Avengers in different timelines. Now that the entirety of the plot of the Multiverse Saga has shifted to Doom, the trick might not work with the character after all.

To up the stake, there will perhaps need to be another team of heroes, perhaps from different timelines and universes, like the Guardians of the Multiverse, to be slain by Doom, with the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four mounting the second or even the third war against the Doctor Doom.
