The Ottawa Police Service on Thursday announced the seizure of “a significant quantity of cannabis products” from what it described as an illegal dispensary in the 100 block of Montreal Road in the Vanier neighbourhood.

An April 16 news release said the investigation began in January, when officers identified a cannabis storefront operating without authorization under provincial licensing regulations. In February, police issued a Notice of Contravention to the property owner, directing that the business cease operations, but it continued, the release added.

On April 14, members of the OPS Vanier/Overbrook Neighbourhood Resource Team searched the business on a warrant, seizing cannabis, various cannabis products, unstamped tobacco and currency.
