SUMMARY

  • Despite earning appreciation from fans, Ben Affleck’s role as Batman faced mixed reactions at home.
  • Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s son Samuel admired his superhero role, while his daughters wanted him in Harry Potter.
  • Affleck further addressed different topics about his kids being on set and his edited version of Batman for his kids.

Although Ben Affleck won hearts with his role as DC’s Batman, the actor failed to impress his own family. According to reports, while Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s son Samuel thought it was cool that his dad was Batman, their daughters Violet and Seraphina weren’t so keen about his superhero character.

Instead, his daughters wanted him to star in the Harry Potter films. Being nerdy Potterheads, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s two daughters begged their father to appear in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. Bless their innocent hearts, but Affleck was a tad bit late for the billion-dollar franchise.

Ben Affleck’s Daughters Wanted Him to Be in Harry Potter

With his formidable portrayal of the Caped Crusader, spanning multiple DC projects, Ben Affleck has managed to capture the hearts of fans worldwide. However, in the Affleck-Garner household, his brilliance subsided as the actor failed to entertain his youngsters with his Batman role.

According to Ben Affleck’s interview with E! News, following the production of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the actor noted how his and Jennifer Garner’s son beamed with pride to see his dad play Batman. But when it came to their daughters Violet and Seraphina, the two girls were least interested in Affleck’s DC role.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s daughters instead wanted the actor to appear in the magical Harry Potter franchise. Being massive fans of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, Affleck revealed how his daughters had dreamed of watching their father don robes and sip Butterbeer. But sadly, Affleck was busy fighting crimes in Gotham, instead of facing Voldemort at Hogwarts.

I think the girls are into it but my oldest daughter is a super Harry Potter nut so she’s wanted me to be in that. I told her, ‘I didn’t have the option to be in a Harry Potter movie—this is what I got.

Well, not just Ben Affleck’s daughters, even we could have enjoyed watching the Oscar winner attend the Sorting Hat ceremony and flick his wand at Dementors. But it seems his son’s desires were far too strong than his daughters’ imagination.

Ben Affleck Spoke About a Typical Day With His Kids on Set

Proceeding with the interview further and speaking fondly of his kids, Ben Affleck tried finding a silver lining for his daughters. Hoping for Violet and Seraphina to find their role model in Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Affleck noted how he wanted to feature a strong female figure in the movie rather than succumbing to the stereotypes of damsels in distress.

She’s a cool role model for girls… I didn’t want to make a movie where the guys were the heroes and the women were the damsels in distress. [Wonder Woman] comes in and was more heroic than the both of us.

The actor further revealed how his kids have gotten used to being on his as well as Jennifer Garner‘s film sets. Stating how they often hang out at either of their workplaces, Affleck mentioned that his kids also accompanied him to other actors’ sets.

They’ve been on a million of Jen’s sets and my sets. And we typically take them to the other’s set and hang out… They’ve learned to really behave well on set and they’re used to it, so they get it that we play other people and that’s why we have a certain kind of life.

Thereafter, ending the conversation by admitting how he doesn’t always allow his kids to see the final product, despite being on sets, Ben Affleck mentioned keeping his children away from his R-rated movies. Although Affleck stated that he would allow his super-interested son to watch Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the actor noted that he would get a toned-down version.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently available to watch on Max.
