To prepare the star-studded ensemble, including Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston, Donnie Wahlberg, and Michael Fassbender, producers subjected the actors to a brutal, 10-day military boot camp led by veteran advisor Captain Dale Dye. Cut off from modern comforts and forced into grueling tactical maneuvers, the cast was pushed to a boiling point by relentless pressure.

McDonough recalled that exhaustion turned into an open revolt as actors began debating walking away from the monumental production. That was until Tom Hanks made an unforgettable entrance, instantly changing the course of television history.
