On Monday morning, a human-caused fire was discovered north of Highway 3 on Anarchist Mountain.

The area, Osoyoos Mountain Estates on Regal Ridge, is noted for its bronze roadside statues depicting a sasquatch, cougar, moose and other wild animals.

At 3:30 p.m., the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen issued an evacuation alert for homes along Sasquatch Trail and Cougar Court.

Meanwhile, there are two wildfires of note in B.C., both in the same vicinity. One is west of Highway One near Boston Bar that covers over 30 square kilometres and is out of control. It was discovered on July 2.

The other is a little further north and is east of Highway One. The Ainslie Creek fire is almost 160 square kilometres, was discovered on July 4 and is also out of control.
