Avengers: Doomsday Officially Reveals 3 New Mysterious Characters

“The Three Latverian Witches” — At least, that’s what Marvel fandom is calling them anyway, after three mysterious characters debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 to promote Avengers: Doomsday. While the three Latverian witches are not a part of Marvel Comics, a poster of the three and Doctor Doom has been revealed.

The poster was shared on X, and it looks…absolutely amazing. With Doctor Doom standing in a green halo, the Three Latverian Witches can be seen standing in the background, supporting Doom. Check out the new poster for Avengers: Doomsday below:

Well, it is pretty common knowledge that Doctor Doom became so powerful because he wove science and magic together. It seems that he has gotten the magic part sorted. However, the mysterious appearance of these three witches has sparked numerous rumors as to who they are. Here’s who we think those three witches could be.

Doctor Doom Has a Lot of Backup for Avengers: Doomsday

There are various characters who have been rumored to be part of the trio of the three Latverian Witches. With Anthony Russo’s confession about a new incarnation of Loki in Avengers: Doomsday, one of the rumors suggests Sylvie is one of the witches. To support this theory, there’s the fact that green is the color of Sylvie (and Loki), which goes along with Russo’s comments about a “new incarnation”.

The other theory (that goes without saying) is that Doctor Doom’s mother is Cynthia Von Doom. To free her people from the cruel oppression of a local Latverian Baron, Cynthia Von Doom makes a dark pact with Mephisto for magical powers (which sets up a pretty bad parenting example).

Although she tragically died in the comic books (fuelling Doom’s quest to save her soul from Mephisto’s realm), the Marvel Cinematic Universe could sweep that aside for a darker family aesthetic in Avengers: Doomsday.

And finally, the third Latverian Witch… is rumored to be Wanda Maximoff. Although her character died at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans are quite certain that wasn’t the end for the Scarlet Witch. There’s even a comic book that supports this theory!

Avengers: Doomsday Poster Fuels Wanda’s Comeback Rumors

Although Mount Wundagore falls on Wanda at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there’s a brief red flash before the screen fades to black. The film was released in 2022, and fans haven’t seen Wanda Maximoff (alive) since, so many have considered that the character will most likely make a comeback in Avengers: Doomsday.

In fact, in one of the Marvel comics titled The Children’s Crusade, Wanda Maximoff is found living in Latveria under the protection of Doctor Doom. After she loses her memory, Doom brings her to Latveria, and they are even briefly betrothed while he acts as her caretaker.

The hidden motivation of Doom was, of course, to siphon and harness Wanda’s immense reality-altering chaos magic for his own power. Naturally, this segment from the comic books could be adapted in Avengers: Doomsday following the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
