Astro Bot has plenty of collectibles for players to sink their teeth into. In the first world, also known as the Gorilla Nebula, there are four levels to complete excluding the asteroid levels.
Construction Derby has seven bots and three jigsaw pieces to find. If you’re looking for all the Construction Derby collectible locations, this Astro Bot collectible guide will do the trick.
Tip: When you acquire the dog, it will give you extra distance across gaps. Feel free to let go of R2 when you reach the next platform to not overshoot the jump. Explore every part of the level as much as possible to find these collectibles on your first run.
If you fail to find them all, a bird robot will assist on consecutive playthroughs and point out the collectibles when nearby.
Jigsaw Piece #1: The First of the Construction Derby Collectibles
When flying into level, be prepared to stay on the left side of the screen. After dodging the construction equipment, tilt the DualSense controller towards the left to nab the first jigsaw piece. If you fail to miss it, don’t be afraid to restart the level and try again.
Bot #1
After being introduced to Mighty Chewy and its mini gorillas, jump up the platforms before the breakable glass. On the right side opposite of the pigeons, the first bot in Construction Derby will be hanging on a pillar trying to nail down a steel beam. Jump and perform the swing attack to collect it.
Bot #2
Walk across the breakable glass and take care of the two robots in the mini cement hill.
After that, pull on the wires by pressing square and tugging the left analog stick down. You should see the second bot splat into the cement, ready to be collected.
Jigsaw Piece #2
Complete the two magnet platforming sections and you’ll be met with the dog backpack. Holding R2 will jet Astro Bot forward and break any glass barrier. After blasting through the first glass barrier, defeat the robots in the center. Before advancing to the next section, there’s a few collectibles hidden here.
Head to the right and pull the wires to find a magnet. Go back inside and collect enough spray paint cans to throw at the magnet icon. After tossing the magnet ball, a platform will be lowered and have the second jigsaw piece sitting on the farthest side.
Be sure to use the dog backpack with R2 because Astro Bot’s normal hover jump isn’t enough to close the gap. Aim for the rope to guarantee a safe landing.
Bot #3
After dashing back, you might have seen the third bot sitting on top of the structures from where you entered. Use the platforms and ladder to unlock this missing bot.
The dog backpack is required once more and will stop on a dime when R2 is let go. This platforming section is tricky, so don’t be afraid to mess up a few times.
Side note: break the crate under the ladder to find a bunch of basketballs. Punch one of them into the hoop and unlock the trophy, Um Jammer Slammy.
Bot #4
Blast yourself into the dog emblem and complete the following obstacles. Soon, you’ll be met with a bot who gets abducted by a flying saucer. Cimb up the ladder and you’ll have a chance to set the bot free.
Hover jump before spinning to destroy the saucer. The fourth bot in Destruction Derby is now yours.
Bot #5
Before traveling left of the seesaw, go down to the right. If the paint is active, platforms should appear with coins sitting on each platform.
Enter the portal and you’ll find a PlayStation bot trapped in the middle of the room. Jump on the controller and spray paint on the front walls to reveal platforms. The lowest platform starts in the middle before making the player jump left and then to the far right.
Once above, you’ll unlock a bot wearing the clothes of PaRappa the Rapper, an iconic rhythm game character from the PS1 and PS2.
Bot #6
Once you exit the room, reach the top of the structure. Go to the right and you’ll find an electric bot and a sumo bot. Defeating them is optional but there should be a bounce pad on the far right.
Use the dog backpack to boost into it and land on top of the highest structure in the middle. The sixth bot is there awaiting your rescue.
Bot #7
After crossing a few more platforming obstacles, stop at the section with two pink rabbit bots. Travel to the right islands to find the final bot being attacked by two electric bots.
Use Astro Bot’s hover jump to defeat them. Once they’re gone, you can collect the final bot who resembles Um Jammer Lammy, a spin-off character from the PaRappa the Rapper series.
Jigsaw Piece #3
The final Astro Bot collectible in Construction Derby is the third puzzle piece. After collecting the seventh bot, platform your way back.
Instead of landing on the top level, land on the platform below. There should be one pink bunny next to two breakable blue bubbles. Pull on the cords in the middle to reveal green tiles.
Walk over the tiles and hover jump on the one that vibrates the DualSense the most. Once the tile goes down, the final jigsaw piece is unlocked.
To get back up, there should be a box next to the puddle that’ll send Astro Bot up. Reach the end of the Mighty Chewy chase sequence and you’ll have all the Construction Derby collectible locations.
