My Hero Academia manga concluded on August 4, 2024, after running for a decade. The last chapter featured Deku becoming a professor at UA after losing One for All. He is busy guiding the next generation of pro-heroes on the right path. Even though the manga ended, the spotlight is not yet ready to leave Kohei Horikoshi’s masterpiece.
After the anime and manga industry went mainstream, most countries aired episodes right after it premiered in Japan. However, in some cases, few scenes are changed due to the country’s policy. One such thing happened with the Arabic version, where Deku’s design was changed. Horikoshi’s original design was changed into something horrific, and the fans could barely look at them.
Deku Got A Horrific Makeover In The Arabic Version Of My Hero Academia
Izuku Midoriya, popularly known as Deku, is the protagonist of My Hero Academia. Even after being quirkless, he aimed to become the greatest hero, which he did by the end of the story. Kohei Horikoshi designed Deku to have an expressional face. Fans can understand what is going through his mind by looking at his face. Often, the words coming out of his mouth are different from what his eyes are speaking. Since he is the protagonist, Horikoshi pays great attention to details.
Unfortunately, the Arabic version seems to have overlooked all the hard work of the mangaka. A picture of Deku from the Arabic version of My Hero Academia has been going viral. In that version, the protagonist has one of the blandest expressions. It appears as if he has seen something horrific and is trying to keep it inside his mind. Even the eyelids are positioned haphazardly, and his nose is missing. The Arabic version seemed to have completely overlooked Deku’s true nature.
Social media was all over Deku’s stupid eyes, and she complained about it. The design has nothing scary, yet the fans are scared of it. Deku’s mind is always thinking about what the future holds, and it shows on his face. In the Arabic version, he seems to be calm and composed, as if he has everything sorted. Moreover, when Deku smiles, his eyes become circular, but they seem to be elongated in My Hero Academia’s Arabic version.
Fans React To The Disastrous Version Of Deku
It is common for countries to censor scenes according to the rules. In Demon Slayer, Uzui Tengen’s wives’ clothes were changed in the Chinese version, or the color of the blood was changed to white. However, changing the face of the protagonist is something that fans have never seen. They were quick to address the issue on social media. Most of the comments were saying how shocked and disappointed the fans were.
My Hero Academia manga has reached its conclusion, but the anime is still ongoing. Currently, the anime is airing season seven and recently featured Bakugo Katsuri suffering a near-death experience against Tomura Shigaraki. Everything is excited to see how the season will unfold, given that season seven will have only 21 episodes. Unlike Deku’s face, it is a change that can be accepted by the fans.
My Hero Academia is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
