Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is Naughty Dog’s first original IP in over a decade. The project has been in development since 2020 and is being directed by Neil Druckmann, Matthew Gallant, and Kurt Margenau (via IGN).

The game has been reported to focus on player freedom, suggesting a potential shift away from their traditional linear design. While an official release date has not been announced, the studio is expected to target a mid-2027 release.

The Last of Us Season 3

Following the massive critical and commercial success of the first two seasons, HBO has officially renewed The Last of Us for a third season. Production is slated to begin in 2026 with the network targeting an early 2027 premiere window.

There are chances that the story of the second game might not be wrapped up in the third season. In such a case, showrunner Craig Mazin could go for a longer season.

Uncharted 2 (Live Action Movie)

The 2022 Uncharted film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg received mixed reviews. However, the movie was a massive box-office success, earning more than $400 million worldwide (via The Numbers).

Sony Pictures officially confirmed in 2024 that Uncharted 2 is actively in development. However, no fixed release date has been announced, and the plot details are still shrouded in mystery.

PlayStation Productions is digging deep into Naughty Dog’s vault to adapt the beloved PS2 platformer Jak and Daxter. Uncharted movie director Ruben Fleischer confirmed he is actively developing a version of the classic franchise (via IGN).

Very little is known about anything else regarding the project. We have no confirmation whether it will be an animated flick or a live-action adaptation. However, rumors have been swirling regarding the cast of the movie.

It’s been heavily rumored that Shaun Escayg will be at the helm of the game (via IGN). The plot is expected to heavily feature Cassie Drake, the daughter of Nathan and Elena.

The Last of Us Part 3

While not formally announced, The Last of Us Part 3 is practically an open secret. It’s rumored that the game is currently in the early stages of development and mapping.

However, Intergalactic and Escayg’s Uncharted are further along in the pipeline. So, don’t expect a part 3 anytime soon. It could potentially be Sony’s pitch for their next console, PlayStation 6.
