Adventure Time: Side Quests Reveals Release Date: Everything We Know So Far

Finn and Jake are officially coming back, and the wait is almost over. Adventure Time: Side Quests has locked in a June 29, 2026, premiere date on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States, with an international rollout on Cartoon Network and HBO Max towards the second half of 2026. Side Quests is a prequel series, set during the earlier, scrappier days of Finn and Jake’s adventures in the Land of Ooo.

The recently launched trailer revealed that the premise strips away the emotional weight and cosmic mythology that defined the show’s later years, replacing them with something the franchise hasn’t leaned into in a long time: pure, unfiltered fun. Standalone episodes, silly quests, zero continuity baggage. It’s the version of Adventure Time that hooked millions of viewers in the first place, rebuilt from the ground up.

Adventure Time: Side Quests‘ Trailer Rewinds the Clock on Finn and Jake

The official trailer for Adventure Time: Side Quests dropped on June 8, 2026, and it delivered exactly what the fanbase has been starving for: a younger Finn sprinting through Ooo.

The show is a prequel set in the original series’ timeline, back when Finn was just a kid who wanted to punch evil, and Jake was the magical dog best friend who made everything weirder and better. These are the “lost stories” from Ooo’s early days, standalone adventures that existed between the dungeon crawls and monster fights before the show evolved into the emotionally dense saga it eventually became.

John DiMaggio is back as Jake, Tom Kenny reprises Ice King, Hynden Walch returns as Princess Bubblegum, Olivia Olson as Marceline, and Niki Yang as BMO. Sasha Knight steps in as the younger Finn. Behind the camera, franchise veteran Nate Cash executive produces, with the explicit goal of recapturing the hand-drawn, loose energy that defined the show’s earliest and arguably greatest run.

First announced at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Side Quests is one chapter in Cartoon Network‘s bigger plan to expand the Adventure Time universe. The trailer makes it clear that this one will be the simplest but more rooted version of the franchise, two best friends wandering a rule-less world, chasing adventures just because they are fun.
