Aaron Rodgers is lashing out at former fiancée, Shailene Woodley, accusing the actress of wanting to “f***” another man before they were set to get married.

In a new interview with Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Cam Heyward’s podcast Not Just Football, Rodgers, 42, opened up about his relationship with Woodley and Danica Patrick and pushed back on the narrative that he was a “monster of a partner.”

“It’s just f***ing horses***,” he said. “Why are you still talking about me? It’s been years.”

“I dated two women, who nobody gives a f*** about unless they drop my name. They like to say their version of the history of what happened,” he said. “I date Shailene, and I propose and she says yes. Now, she maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision, she could have said no. But not a couple of days after that, she tells me before we get married, ‘I got to go f*** this guy.'”

In a 2024 interview with Outside magazine, Woodley called her relationship with Rodgers a “toxic situation.”

“I haven’t shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry,” she told the outlet. “I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy. I really understood depression and anxiety and, like, complete soul detachment.”

But Rodgers said he wasn’t the cause of her unhappiness.

“Her story is, I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her, but the actuality she told me that and took off the ring by March,” he told Heyward. “I proposed in December, took off the ring by March, and we had a couple of times when we tried to get reunited and nothing ever happened, and there wasn’t even a relationship in ’22 to break off. She literally told me I don’t want to be with you. After we tried to have some sort of reconciliation.”

Rodgers admitted he could be accused of “being emotionally unavailable” during his time with Woodley and Patrick, but accused his exes of being clout chasers.

“There’s just a lot of narratives out there that are just not true and they portray things a certain way because they can get away with it,” he said. “No one knows what they’re doing … The height of their fame was when they were with me. They get clicks when they say my name.”

Elsewhere he said Patrick was “depressed and not fun to be around” and opened up about his “fake wife” Brittani.

“I met my wife in 2017 … and at the time she was leaving the States and going back to Europe and my biggest mistake was not proposing right there,” he said. “I had met the person that changed my life … I knew I was supposed to be with this one person.”

‘Neither of them was happy’

Rodgers announced his engagement to Woodley in February 2021, while accepting his NFL Most Valuable Player award.

Speaking during the NFL Honors broadcast, Rodgers said, “2020 was definitely a crazy year filled with lots of change, growth, some amazing, memorable moments, 180 straight days of having my nose hair scraped, playing for very little fans or no stands the entire season. I got engaged and I played some of the best football in my career.”

Woodley confirmed the news during an appearance on The Tonight Show.

“I never thought I’d be engaged with somebody who threw balls for a living. I never thought as a little girl, ‘Yeah, when I grow up, I’m gonna marry someone who throws balls! Yeah!’ But he’s really just so good at it,” she told Jimmy Fallon.

Woodley later told Shape magazine that the couple moved in together almost immediately.

“We jumped in headfirst and got some of the sticky bits out of the way early.”

And despite the non-traditional start to their relationship, Woodley said she was convinced the pair were destined to be together.

“I have the perspective that I would have met Aaron in any context, any space in time, because I feel we were meant to be together,” she said at the time.

But Rodgers’ pal told PEOPLE in 2022 that the two were going their separate ways.

“It was an amicable split; it just wasn’t working,” the source said. “They’re very different people with busy careers and there were obstacles that they couldn’t surmount. They will remain friendly; there’s no bad blood and no drama. It just didn’t work out for them.”

“While Shailene is supportive of Aaron’s career, he put football first and they were barely spending any time together,”  an insider told In Touch. “She felt he neglected their relationship. Neither of them was happy.”

Later, Rodgers paid tribute to Woodley on Instagram, saying he was grateful for their time together.

“Thanks for letting me chase after you the first couple months after we met, and finally letting me catch up to you and be a part of your life,” he said in a now-deleted message directed at Woodley. “Thanks for always having my back, for the incredible kindness you show me and everyone you meet, and for showing me what unconditional love looks like. I love you and am grateful for you.”
