5 Iconic Wolverine Suits That Fans Want To See in Marvel’s Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine is almost here, with Insomniac’s long-awaited take on Logan arriving on September 15. We already know some of the suits making the cut, but Wolverine has spent decades wearing enough iconic gear to fill several games.

That leaves plenty of room for a few fan favorites that haven’t been confirmed for the game yet. From one of Logan’s darkest comic book chapters to a suit that only exists because a 2008 video game went completely off the rails, these are the five we’d love to see make the jump to Marvel’s Wolverine.

1 Old Man Logan

Old Man Logan first appeared in Wolverine #66 in 2008, created by writer Mark Millar and artist Steve McNiven. Set in a dystopian future where villains have taken control of America, it follows an older Logan who has abandoned his Wolverine identity and wants nothing more than to live quietly with his family.

That makes the outfit such a great fit for Marvel’s Wolverine. Logan’s worn coat, jeans, boots, and cowboy hat look nothing like his traditional superhero gear, but that is exactly the appeal. It would give Insomniac a chance to show a much older, battle-weary side of the character.

2 X-Force Suit

The X-Force Suit debuted alongside the team’s 2008 relaunch in X-Force #1, written by Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost with art by Clayton Crain. Logan’s black and gray armor was built for covert missions, giving the team a far more clandestine, militaristic look than the colorful and bright X-Men uniforms.

It remains one of Wolverine’s best darker designs. The armored body, red lenses, and muted colors would also fit the game’s combat-focused tone without feeling like another variation of his usual costume.

3 X-Men Movie Suit

The black leather X-Men suit first appeared with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men. While it never had the comic book yellow and blue, the costume became instantly associated with Jackman’s early portrayal of Logan and the first major live-action X-Men team.

It may look fairly basic by today’s standards, but that is part of its nostalgia. From long before the character eventually got his yellow suit on screen with Deadpool & Wolverine, this was the look that introduced an entire generation to the character. Insomniac would be leaving out a fun piece of Wolverine history by ignoring it.

4 Ablation Armor

The Ablation Armor arrived in Wolverine Vol. 6 #1 in 2014, designed by Kris Anka during Logan’s brief but important period without his healing factor. After a Microverse virus robbed him of his powers, the Superior Spider-Man (Otto Octavius in Peter Parker’s body) stepped in with an armored solution that gave Logan protection and a set of retractable artificial claws.

The bulky and metallic black-and-yellow design is a sharp departure from Logan’s usual costumes, with the oversized X across the chest and mechanical claws built into the gauntlets. It also captures that unusual stretch of the hero’s history when surviving a fight meant relying on technology rather than simply letting his healing factor handle the damage.

5 Symbiote Wolverine

One of Wolverine’s stranger video game appearances came in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, where Logan is infected by the Venom symbiote and transformed into this hulking black and yellow monstrosity. The pointed ears, oversized claws, exposed teeth, and tendrils give the design a properly feral look that is hard to mistake for anything else.

It is also one of those deep cuts that would be especially fun to see Insomniac revisit. With Marvel’s Wolverine already confirmed to exist in the same universe as the Spider-Man games, the studio already has plenty of room to play with that shared history. Seeing its artists reinterpret this bizarre version of Logan could make for one hell of a suit.
