Penni Whiteside, 51, was last seen on May 12, 2022, according to a news release from the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
At the time, she was living with Sheridan Dirk Fogle, 54, cops said.
However, investigators received information from Whiteside’s neighbours that her remains may have been buried “near the residence, in the backyard under a firepit.”
After police obtained a search warrant, Whiteside’s remains were found in the yard on June 12.
Fogle was arrested last Thursday and charged with murder.

No bond was set for Fogle, who has two court appearances scheduled — on Oct. 25 and Dec. 13, WPDE reported.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
A cause of death has not yet been revealed.
“This is a tragic loss of life and a senseless crime of violence,” police said. “Please continue to pray for the family and friends of the victim.”
