The wrestling community was grief-stricken when Barry Windham shared on Tuesday (via YouTube) that Mike Rotunda was under hospice care. In a follow-up update, Mika Rotunda, the wrestling legend’s daughter, has shared an update on her social media handle (@mikarotunda), which contrasts with what the wrestling legend stated about her father. Check out the post below:
In the family statement, Mika Rotunda mentioned that her father was not in hospice care but rather in a rehabilitation center after suffering a “massive heart attack” on September 20, 2025, spending a week in a coma and a month in the hospital. Here’s what she wrote:
My father is not in hospice, but rather in a rehabilitation center. He suffered a massive heart attack on September 20th, was in a coma for a week, and spent over a month hospitalized. By the grace of God, he has now transitioned to a rehabilitation center, where our family remains present, hopeful, and focused on his recovery.
The fans were equally relieved as they read the family statement and shared their thoughts and prayers for the veteran wrestler. Whereas a fan was glad to see him kicking out of the heart attack and joked that he had “still more taxes to collect” (via X). However, the latter part of the statement showcased how the I.R.S. had a massive challenge to overcome.
Mike Rotunda Has a Long Road of Recovery Ahead of Him
Undoubtedly, it’s a relief to know that Mika Rotunda isn’t under hospice care anymore and is doing better. However, the family statement mentioned that there’s a “long road” ahead for his recovery. That said, they are optimistic that together they will overcome this challenge. The statement added,
It has already been a long road, and we know there is still a long road ahead—but our faith in God remains strong. Anyone who knows my dad knows that it’s his strength, work ethic, and athleticism that have carried him through not just this but every challenge life has thrown his way. If there’s one person I have faith in, it’s Captain Mike.
The statement concluded acknowledging the strong outpouring of love, prayer, and support from the WWE fans, but they asked for privacy during this period as they recover from the challenge life has thrown their way.

The Rotunda Family has had their fair share of tragedy, as they lost Windham Rotunda, popularly known as Bray Wyatt, in 2023. Though he is gone, he will forever be loved and remembered, as John Cena paid his tribute to him at Crown Jewel 2025.
A Look at Mike Rotunda’s Illustrious Wrestling Legacy
The Rotunda Family | Credit: @mikarotunda/InstagramIn the competitive world of the wrestling business, Mike Rotunda has made quite a name for himself, where viewers of the show would recall him as IRS, who would harass fellow wrestlers and even fans for not paying taxes and bending the rules.
He had enjoyed a successful stint in the company, where he had won a number of titles, including the Tag Team Championship on several occasions. Check out his wrestling achievements below (via Cagematch):
| Title Name | Times Won |
| WCW World Tag Team Championship | 1 |
| WCW World Television Championship | 3 |
| World Tag Team Championship | 5 |
Rotunda was also featured in intriguing tag team factions, featuring Ted DiBiase as Money Inc., but his most popular run was with Barry Windham as U.S. Express, where he wreaked havoc in the tag team division of WWE. He had also teamed up with Steve Williams to take down the Road Warriors for the NWA World Tag Team Championship and even joined the nWo when he was in WCW.
The legend’s contribution to WWE did not end there, because his sons, the late Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas, are hot names in the company. Currently, Dallas plays the role of Uncle Howdy, which pays homage to his brother’s contributions as he runs the tag team division with The Wyatt Sicks.
With the Rotunda family seeking privacy, fans should respect their decision and continue praying for Mike Rotunda’s speedy recovery. Get well soon, IRS!
