Looking to own a piece of Hollywood North history? The house at 15 Brunswick Beach Rd. in Lions Bay, the setting for the 1996 stalker flick Fear starring Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon, is back on the market.

The current listing for the property, built in 2021, has been active for 12 days. Last July, the house was listed for $20 million. That listing expired and a new listing went up on July 19.

Reflecting the increasingly affordable local real estate market, the five-bed, five-bath, 5,000-sq.-ft. luxury location is now marked down to a bargain price of $17.8 million, with property taxes of $40,124.

Among the features mentioned in the listing is the nearly 100 metres of shoreline that wraps around the open-plan home set at the end of a quiet road looking out over Howe Sound. Other highlights of the steel-and-glass structure are the 3,000 sq. ft. of oceanside patio terraces, gardens and lawn.

This impressive space replaced the dark, wood-panelled property featured in the psychological thriller which starred Wahlberg as a obsessive stalker preying upon Witherspoon. That property sold in 2015 for $4.9 million.

One memorable moment in the film is when Wahlberg’s character screams through the peephole of the property: “Let me in the f—ing house!” Presumably, the new building has state-of-the-art doorbell cams for those that come knocking.

Doubtless, many Lower Mainland residents wouldn’t mind a chance to splash around the swimming pool and take in a sunset with views of Bowen and Gambier Island or down the sound toward Squamish.

One thing that is certain about the address is that it has always been a very desirable place to put a home. Archival photos place a much earlier building right up at the end of the jutting coastline.

Whether or not the priced-to-sell property will come off the market this time around remains to be seen. No matter what, the address remains permanently linked to Hollywood North history.
