After a marvelous performance in which he scored a goal and garnered an assist, SV Werder Bremen's Mitchell Weiser confirmed that he recently completed the switch of his national team allegiance to Algeria.
Following a top-notch performance in SV Werder Bremen's win over Wolfsburg last night, 30-year-old German wingback/attacker Mitchell Weiser confirmed standing rumors that he recently completed the paperwork to switch his national team allegiance to Algeria. The former German youth international is eligible to represent the Fennecs through his maternal grandmother.
"I hope I get invited," Weiser noted in a post-match interview yesterday evening, "I'll have to play well and offer myself up for the November nominations."
Weiser also confirmed that he had a brief chat with his (hopefully) future Algerian national team colleague Mohammed Amoura. The VfL Wolfsburg striker lined up opposite Weiser in the league fixture against Germany's green company team.
"We had a quick chat," Weiser said of Amoura, "He heard of the developments and congratulated me."
