There were so many unforgettable and iconic moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but only a few were as beautiful as the relationship between Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. They shared a dynamic of mentor and mentee, and their final interaction left everyone devastated.
Avengers: Endgame was a heartbreaking moment in their partnership, and ever since then, fans have been craving to have a glimpse of them again. If you’ve missed the duo and the chemistry they shared, we have good news for you!
Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. might reunite in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey
Perhaps we won’t have to wait for another Marvel project to see Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. on screen together. As per insider Daniel Richtman, also known as DanielRPK, Christopher Nolan is reportedly considering Robert Downey Jr. for a pivotal role in The Odyssey.
The film has already generated massive buzz, because it seems to be one of Nolan’s most ambitious ventures yet with a star-studded cast that includes Matt Damon, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, and, yes, Tom Holland. There are no details about the cast’s role but Damon is rumored to play the titular character.
This wouldn’t be the first collaboration between Downey Jr. and Nolan, as they’ve previously worked on Oppenheimer together which even earned the former an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. It’s yet to be seen how the filmmaker will direct Holland, and if there will be any scenes between the Marvel stars.
The bond between Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland
Holland and Downey Jr. aren’t just co-stars of a big-budget franchise, they also share a relationship that goes beyond MCU. The Spider-Man actor has often credited Downey Jr. as a mentor who was there to guide him through all the challenges that he faced while joining one of the biggest franchises in the world.
Their camaraderie started during the filming of Captain America: Civil War and then blossomed even more through Spider-Man: Homecoming, a stand-alone film of Tom Holland’s version of the webslinger where RDJ’s Tony Stark was pivotal to Peter Parker’s transformation.
Moreover, the duo’s lighthearted interaction in interviews, public appearances, and all the time they’ve spoken of each other suggests that their connection extends beyond professional bounds. Their last moment together during Endgame left us all in tears but “part of the journey is the end.”
