The MCU’s second Disney Plus series this year Agatha All Along has finally premiered on the streaming platform with the first two episodes. The series premiere seems to take off right from the end of WandaVision, with Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness being stuck in a similar TV show world.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch was implied to be dead at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the series also refers to her death. The in-show tease seems to indicate that Olsen might just make an appearance in the show. However, the actress recently mentioned that only really smart writers could come up with a way to revive her.

After jumping through multiple universes and leaving a string of dead heroes in her wake, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch finally seemed to have met her end in the climax of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The ending scene saw her fall into the rubble of Mount Wundagore along with the copies of the Darkhold. A red ball of energy is also seen.

The ending is also referred to in the recently released premiere episode of Agatha All Along, which sees Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness lose her magical powers and be stuck in a Law and Order-esque TV show. Structured like a procedural, Agatha finds a body that is implied to be Wanda Maximoff and also mentions her possession of the Darkhold.

While fans speculated that the spinoff show might have a cameo of Elizabeth Olsen, the actress confirmed that the Scarlet Witch was dead and that she did not know whether she would be revived. Talking to Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she said,

I would like to figure out how to cleverly [be] beyond dead. We need to find the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense.

Her appearance on the talk show in the same week as Agatha All Along’s premiere has led fans to speculate about Scarlet Witch’s return.

Should Agatha All Along Bring Back Scarlet Witch?

Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is definitely one of the most beloved characters among fans of the MCU. The powerful superhero has gone from being the manipulated Hydra pawn in Avengers: Age of Ultron to being a vulnerable human being with dreams and love in the Disney Plus series WandaVision.

However, all the development and arc shown in the series seemed to have gone in vain as she was turned into a ruthless villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The actress too vaguely expressed her disdain for what happened in the film to Collider,

It’s a character that I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well, and I think I have been lucky that when I started I was used well. I think people didn’t know what to do with me for a second there. … If there’s a good way to use her I’m always happy to come back.

With the first episode, Agatha All Along seems to be exploring the implication of Scarlet Witch’s actions in both WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2. Bringing her back would have to have, as Olsen mentioned, really smart writing and a good reason for the story of the series as just a fan-service moment would do her character dirty again.

Agatha All Along is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
