“Way too many games ignore that part of the franchise”: Sparking Zero Must Avoid the 1 Mistake Almost Every Popular Dragon Ball Game is Guilty of

There’s no doubt that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is one of the most hyped entries in the Budokai Tenkaichi series so far, as it’s all set to revamp the franchise from the ground up and feature a massive roster of iconic characters with an updated set of mechanics.

So far, the game’s trailers have been a blast to watch, with developer Bandai Namco slowly unveiling everything gamers can expect to see in the upcoming fighter title. However, gamers believe that if Sparking Zero ends up repeating the same mistake as every game in the franchise has done so far, it could lead to its eventual downfall.

Sparking Zero Must Start with the OG Story

If you’re unaware, the original Dragon Ball series kicks off with Goku, a Saiyan, living in isolation in the mountains. At some point, he comes across Bulma, who’s a teenage girl searching for the Dragon Balls that can summon Shenron and grant any wish.

Eventually, Bulma convinces Goku to join her journey, and they embark on an adventure filled with battles and enemies that shape the franchise’s future.

Unfortunately, all the games in the franchise we’ve seen so far completely ditch this aspect of the story and begin the story right from the Raditz and Vegeta saga. This has been a major source of disappointment among gamers, and they’re worried once again as the upcoming Sparking Zero follows the same pattern.

Well, it makes sense for these games to begin with the Raditz Saga, as Dragon Ball Z marks the start of Goku’s Saiyan heritage plotline and brings more intense battles and power levels. It’s this part of the story that made it popular in the first place, as it was an action-packed narrative.

However, even with Kakarot, a game that was supposed to focus on Goku’s origin story, Banadai Namaco chose to ignore the original story and begin with the Raditz saga yet again.

It’s clear that gamers are desperate for a title that focuses on Goku’s humble beginnings. While Sparking Zero doesn’t seem to feature that, developers could always add an expansion that would allow gamers to explore this aspect of the narrative.

When is Sparking Zero Coming Out?

It’s been well over a decade of inactivity for the iconic Budokai Tenkaichi series, and fans are all aboard the hype train to jump back into action with the upcoming Sparking Zero. Since its first reveal, many have been wondering when the game will hit the shelves, and fortunately, we finally have a release date.

The game is all set to debut on October 11, 2024, as confirmed by Bandai Namco during the recent Summer Games Fest. The title will be available to experience on Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.

Gamers can also opt for a deluxe edition, which, alongside giving early access to the title, will also bring a Season pass that features over 20 fighters from the franchise.

There’s a good chance for the title to eventually make its way to Xbox Game Pass as well. In the past, we’ve seen FighterZ arrive on the Microsoft service.
