Toronto Police and Peel Regional Police nearly caught up with suspected killer Jordan Sangwin in Etobicoke Friday evening

They almost caught him in south Etobicoke Friday night – but fugitive Jordan Sangwin is hard to catch.

Peel Regional Police say “there was a confirmed sighting of Jordan Sangwin, in the area of Lake Shore Blvd. W. and Yachters Ln. – west of Park Lawn Rd. – around 6 p.m.

As a result of a new, clearer picture taken June 21, someone spotted him and called it in.

With the help of Toronto Police, cops did their best to move in on the man wanted for two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the alleged blunt force trauma deaths of his parents Carol Sangwin, 70, and Garwood Sangwin, 71, in their Mississauga home.

But this guy is elusive.

It’s now 10 days since the June 18 slayings on Briarwood Ave. in Port Credit.

It is alleged, after his parents were assaulted, Sangwin fled on foot and walked toward Toronto as his mother and father were pronounced dead in hospital.

There have been several sightings of him in the Humber Bay, High Park area – including a picture of him appearing happy and healthy, with the exception of some cuts noticeable on his hand and leg.

But Jordan Sangwin seems to know how to change things up in appearance and location.

“Last seen wearing a green hoodie, red T-shirt underneath, shorts and carrying a black duffel bag,” Peel Regional Police said in an X post.

Several police sources say they got close to him Friday night.

“He was able to run away,” one police source said.

He finds wooded areas and seems to know the area.

Of course, this is not a movie like Catch Me If You Can or even Rambo and police are cognizant of the challenge they face. Their job is to try to arrest him without incident, so he can face the charges that have been levied against him, while also protecting the public.

Meanwhile, as Jordan Sangwin runs from justice, the funeral for Carol and Garwood Sangwin was scheduled Saturday.

“Carol was a reader in the truest sense,” states her online obituary. “There was a book going in every room of the house, and she had a taste for the darker, sharper end of literature, with Margaret Atwood among her favorites. She was a woman who found beauty in the details of life. An avid gardener, she nurtured not just flowers but a sense of peace and wonder she shared with everyone around her. Her gardens were a reflection of her own spirit: vibrant, resilient, and full of life.”

Meawnhile, Garwood is described as “Port Credit’s town carpenter, and the role suited him completely.”

“A craftsman with steady hands and an easy way about him, the kind of man a town comes to rely on without quite realizing how much,” his online obituary states. “His work is scattered across the place he loved, quiet and lasting.”

Both obituaries say the couple’s “final day” was shared with each other. And their other children are mention, their son Jordan’s name is noticeably absent.

This is not a TV show – it’s real. What’s also real is Sangwin has to be tired, hungry and running out of options.

It is not believed he has access to media but if he does, his best option is to surrender peacefully, go to a hospital and ensure no one else is hurt or killed.

In the meantime, this is a situation where people need to be stay clear of him if they see him.

“He is considered armed and dangerous,” police said.

He also has skills to be able to evade capture for ten days.
