A violent Burlington home invasion is being tied to an attempted Oakville break-in, with police saying the suspects involved in both incidents are the same.

Halton Regional Police allegedly connected the incidents, which began with an attempted home invasion on Wednesday at about 3 a.m. in southeast Oakville. Police said a resident woke up after hearing loud banging at the front door and that suspects were seen kicking the door and using a hammer to try to gain entry.

The resident called 911 with the suspects fleeing before police arrived and without gaining access to the home.

Less than an hour later, at about 3:45 a.m., police said five suspects smashed a glass panel to unlock the front door of a home in the Roseland neighbourhood in Burlington’s south end to “quickly” gain access.
