Trooper fans are invited for a good time (not a long time) as the Canadian rock band is inducted into B.C.’s Entertainment Hall of Fame and celebrates with a star on Vancouver’s famed StarWalk.

The iconic group will raise a little hell during a public induction ceremony on Friday at 4 p.m., where fans and media is invited to witness the presentation outside the storied Commodore Ballroom on Granville Street.

“We were practically the house band at one point,” said original member Ra McGuire of the venue adjacent to where the band’s star would be located.

McGuire will be joined by the original lineup of boys in bright white sports cars consisting of Brian Smith, Tommy Stewart, Doni Underhill, Frank Ludwig, and Harry Kalensky, as well as other Trooper members from past and present, to mark the occasion.

The group was formed by McGuire and Smith in 1975 but has cycled through various lineups over the years as members come and go. Today, the current lineup includes Paul Roland Gogo, Scott Brown, Clayton Hill, Steve Crane and Paul Laine and continues to tour, “cranking out Canada’s best recognized catalogue of party rock,” declared a news release.

Some of the band’s most recognizable songs include “Raise a Little Hell”, “We’re Here For a Good Time (Not a Long Time)”, and “The Boys in the Bright White Sports Cars.”

“Trooper is a slam dunk as a nominee for the Hall of Fame,” said Bill Allman, president of the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame.

“Trooper represents the best of B.C. rock ‘n’ roll and entertainment. Even Rick Mercer called Raise a Little Hell Canada’s second national anthem.”

The BCEHOF honours high-profile individuals and groups who have left an impact on B.C.’s entertainment industry, and has recognized more than 300 talents.
